Commissioner’s’ Corner - 8/26/2016 (and so it begins)

Commissioner’s’ Corner - 8/26/2016

Draft Order for Bentleague II was determined on a wet August evening in Mandeville Louisiana yesterday evening.  La Caretta’s was the setting with live music, chips/salsa, and happy hour prices.  Ray was noticeably nervous for the pre-draft order determination so I do not have confidence in his drafting ability.  A lot of discussion centered around the Commissioner’s weighted draft.  The Chalmette weighted drafting system stood up against inferior mathematic minds and withstood ridicule mostly coming from Principal Belding (Brad) and Ray.  The lone 4.5 captain was not happy with a 18.18 percent chance at obtaining the first pick of the first round.  The others had a 27.27 percent chance at the first pick overall and the right to draft Jeff.  Just a little advice from Last year’s champion…team chemistry is just as important as talent.  You have to come together as a team first before earning the trophy.

Brian won the tightly fought rock, paper, and scissors competition between the captains to see who would draw for the first pick.  His hand could barely fit into the sterilized professionally sealed zip lock bag.  Ernst and Young validated the Harvard on the Bayou graduate’s math and Brad won the right to draft first.  Board of Director’s (Bentley and Kevin) tried to limit Ray’s whining but their efforts were futile.  With the first pick secure, positions two through four were determined.  Ray pulled 3, Hunt 2, leaving Brian with the last pick of round 1 but the first pick of round 2.  At least he can’t make the same mistake Mark Fair made last year with his sub par 2nd round serpentine selection.  Ok to start mock draft boys.  Who will earn coveted 36th Mr. Irrelevant title?  Will injuries heel in time for first match?  Will Brad ever figure out Chalmette Math?  What round will Bentley be drafted?  Was Ray really serious when he said he would draft Kevin before Tony (Wrath of Chalmette coming).  Will Donald get over not making it to the singles league finale?  Will Ray ever quit complaining?  Will Brad have any friends left once the B II league champion is crowned?  Will Brian reciprocate and draft Vic in the 2nd round?  Will Steve ever learn how to spell/say Ycloskey?  Will Mark ever admit he is shorter than Tony?  These questions and more will be answered before Thanksgiving.  Stay tuned.

The Commish would like to thank all who attended even those missing teeth.
Draft date is September 8th at 7pm at the Lake House.  Be there or be square!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
