BENTLEAGUE (B III)… And so it begins...9/29/2017

BENTLEAGUE (B III)… And so it begins...9/29/2017

·       Rousing start to B IIl last night.  Team Cannoli vs. Team America at 6pm and FYVM vs. String Music in the night cap.  Only 3 lines played for each so the final results are still pending.

·       “Let go of my Ego” Mark Fair squeaks out a victory with El Cubano and avoids walk of shame back to the hard courts from the clay.  El Cubano not too complimentary in post-match comments of the 1st overall pick.  Captain Cannoli saves face but long term questions loom with line 1 taking down Sly Schneider and Svelt MitchChap in nail biter (13-11) three setter.

·       Team America and Capt. Gordo come out strong in line 2 with the real number 1 (Ray) and Balling Billy.  From the outside looking in this match was not even close and Cannoli Captain and the trick shot artist more accurately known as an overrated tennis player prove unworthy.  #definitelynottheman nor a #killeronthetenniscourt.  Margin of victory for Ray and Billy 2-1.

·       Ten pounds lighter Chupacabra playing with the best wing man in Mandeville pull out 7,6 / 7,6 victory and propel Autin into unfamiliar territory (losers column).  Questions abound about Andrews’ first serve and the low percentage of in balls when he picks his foot up to serve.  Tightly contested and a lot of fight showed by both squads.  #notthehighestquality of tennis though.

·       Team America leads 2 lines to 1 heading into Saturday as Gordo makes early pitch for manager of the year with a little help from Bentley I’m sure.  Bentley and Gordo to challenge Miller and McCarthy to even it out or cement Gordo as Manager extraordinaire.

·       Rude welcome back for Croft and the tanned/late arriving lefty.  Who is this tennis playing councilman anyway?  Is he an East Jeff graduate too?  Rumor has it he was and is a pretty good tennis player so I suggest we fill up the council agenda so he cannot make Thursday Tennis too often (jk).  How about some drainage pumps on my Cul-de-sac Councilman.  No one likes ditches anyway.  Ever heard of a side-walk and underground utilities.  Welcome to B III Mr. Keller.  Councilman Keller and Toad the Wet Sprocket win convincingly 0-1. Commish…hope the 15 minute grace period does not become routine and I hope the Indian Lives Matter leader reads his emails more frequently.

·       Strrrrrinnnngggg Music Captain and George the Animal Strain propel SM Line 2 to victory over Skip and Johhnny “Bigger Calves than Mark” Fournet.  Unlike Team America captain playing Line 4 this Captain has confidence.  Underrated 8th pick of SM distancing himself from the other two members of the Gerratol Triplets in first week of play.  Chants of Where’s Bruce and Ryan permeat throughout the night.  3 and 4 score’s have Skip saying Pour Me…Pour Me…Pour Me Another Drink.

·       Thursday Nights finale did not disappoint.  Dynamic Duo aka. The Fabulous Freebirds would not be denied on this humid September evening.  Regrouping after a heart wrenching first set tie breaker that had a questionable line call winner by Mike “EffU” Hunt the Duo took the 2nd set convincingly.  SM rallies off 4 straight in the third set tie breaker to capture the hard fought match giving Strrrrrriiiiinnnnnngggg Music a 2-1 lead in lines.  The Fabulous ones sporting rallying headbands and the necessary moxy to bring home the victory.  Key run of the final four points had another precision lob go over the out of gas Hunt and Donald futilely attempting to run it down only to be stopped dead in his tracks by the fence post.  With the crowd gasping with uncertainty about Donald’s health you could hear the Mexican Ninja quote Drago from Rocky IV in a cold blooded winner take all attitude that separates the men from the boys...“If he dies, he dies”…and with that the match was all but over.  SM takes a 2-1 lead heading into Saturday’s clincher.  Jawn and Rocky vs. Big John Allen and David “let me play the tambourine” Mount.

·       To be continued….

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
