BENTLEAGUE (B III) – Draft Recap 9/8/2017

BENTLEAGUE (B III) – Draft Recap 9/8/2017
·         Thank you Cayman Sinclair.  Wolfman and the Lakehouse know how to host a party.
o   Food and service were fantastic!
·         B III Draft is now in the books.  Italian Stallion has surveyed the draft board and the scores are in…
·         To Steve and Gordo’s delight…Take the Cannoli goes small and drafts Fair Weather Mark first overall.  He’s good but he’s not that good.  Ego is already enormous….now he’ll have to back that up on the court.
o   The rest of Kevin’s draft was as rocky as his first pick.  Hump’s trick shots won’t equate to W’s.  Stallion don’t trust guys who don’t drink so Blake a reach.  High value with Loeb in round 8.  Autin’s two titles solid at 10.  Miller could be a difference maker but if paired with Burrito McQuaid talent may be wasted.   Wolfman will have to play above his round 9 selection for this team to have a chance at the title.  The divorce of El Cubano and Chupacabra is official.  How will Chupacabra perform without the calming influence of his latin lover.  Value is high in 5th round but how will his (long) stories effect his partners.
o   Draft grade C- è (3th Place)
·         FYVM is a team to be reckoned with says the Stallion.
o   Started off well… having been gifted the skilled left hander by the short one.  If healthy definitely an MVP candidate.  Mystery guy in the 2nd an asset from what I am hearing unless council meetings prevent attendance.  #EffUHunt and late entry Ben are keys to success if Ben gets over the yips he had in recent mixed season.  Stallion likes his fire but youth may be a liability against wily vets.  Rounds 5 through 8 could propel this team but Stallion’s predicting that won’t happen.  I envision a .500 winning percentage ceiling for Jawn, Rocky, and Todd.  Robby’s Sad Face at the draft doesn’t bode well for team camaraderie.   Will he ever get over being drafted after the Geratol Threesome?  High value at 9 along with Skip to my Lou and Big Calf Johnny make this team interesting but not championship caliber.
o   Draft GRADE B è  (2nd Place)
·         Team America is fair to middling says the Stallion
o   Late to the court, late to the Draft, late on his picks….what can we expect during the season? Best dressed captain came out with Guns a’ Blazing for first three selections.  Stallion loves top three players on TA.  Another gift from the dessert eating vertically challenged one.  Blue Bell may be in order Gordo.  2nd shocker of the draft goes down in round 4 as the Commish is selected well ahead of pre-draft mocks.  Self-rating had him going in round 5 (still very optimistic).  Dividends could be realized later with Commish’s drafting advice but time will tell.  Swollen one in Round 5 will provide levity but can he provide W’s.  Stallion says he’s a 2nd banana and will need to be paired with someone steady to get over .500.  Jury is out of Sly Schneider although Stallion predicts athleticism and funky shots will equate to wins.  Drafting of the Scheister and Zipp provide much needed depth but I just don’t see good pairings with this team.  Eskine’s performance can only go up after witnessing 4 double faults in a row last Thursday.  Should have been scouting Gordo.  Even if it goes up…..333 winning percentage predicted.  Stallion sees a steady downward trajectory after a strong start for Team America relegating them to the bottom of the pack.
o   Draft GRADE D + è  (4th Place)
·         String Music’s lunch pail crew is strong Top to Bottom.
o   Stallion see’s winners up and down this line up.  Ferr did his homework and has both chemistry and talent 1 through 11.  Stallion doesn’t see the flash that the other teams possess but according to the captain, “All they do is WIN”.  Young Gun Tony and Regouffre are formidable in everything they do.  Bumper Pool, Regular Pool, Corn Hole, Darts, Bowling, Tennis….is there anything that this pair cannot master.  Clinching victories over Mark and Brad just this week.  Not to mention the easy bumper pool victory after the draft over Mark and Dave.  Anyone else see a trend.  Italia says the captain, Mitch, Hal, and Vic can play numerous styles and pair with anyone and succeed.  Vic welcomed to the show courts last week did not disappoint and makes for a steal in round 7.  Big John and Big Brian provide an intimidating contrast that will propel SM’s title chase.  Stallion predicts the Chants of Indian Lives Matter will make Ananth’s forehand resemble Del Potro’s.  B III welcomes JB to the fold and he gets gifted with title contender.  Stallion says the Ambidextrous one’s upside will justify round 8 selection before his senior citizen compadre’s.  Ferr is already calling local business to keep Addison in town.  Truly won’t be fair if that young man is able to contribute as a Round 11 selection.
o   Draft GRADE A- è  (1st Place – Of COURSE)
·         Well there you have it.  Grades are in and String Music’s title run begins in earnest next week.  Good luck to all players.  Should be a blast!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
