Bentleague III Blog 12/1/2017 - Down goes Dave...Down goes Dave!

Bentleague III Blog 12/1/2017 - Down goes Dave...Down goes Dave!

Great night for tennis….Cool, damp, and foggy.
>String Music mounting a late season charge.  Pep talk for assistant coach working and Ferr keeps dialing up winning combinations.  Technicality only barrier to consecutive three line victories.  Even the cannoli’s were cheering on String Music.  Did the pressure of the B III lead hinder FYVM’s performance.  Two weeks remaining will tell the tale.
> Hairy Hal and Gorgeous George prove too much for Black Box John and Todd the wet sprocket.  Healthy George and slice and lob Hal harm MVP Candidacy for Jawn.  Hal and George over Todd and Jawn.  SM takes 1.
>Fired up Vic and Big John struggle against EffUHunt and Young Ben.  This young combination could play a huge part in title chase.  Although valiant…Vic’s shoulder hinders the flames and String Music goes does.
Where have you been Addison?  The young and talented one could be the infusion Ferr needs down the stretch.  Along with the Southpaw’d Indian they take down one of the Geratol three (RD) and Smooth Sledding Skip in a nail biter.  Ebbs and Flows of this match had the crowd screaming and hollering.  Skip makes the shot of B III running down a deep lob at the fence only to see RD put it in the net three shots later.  Dandy Don was singing at that point as SM reels off the next three points with a convincing overhead by Addison.  SM takes 2.
To get the third…SM had to take down the titans of FYVM and that they did.  Kobrock’s forehand was on and Goof was his usual DonaldAllen killer self and Steve could not figure out how to reverse the tide of Ferr’s fearsome twosome.  SM takes 3 out of four and makes it interesting heading into the final two weeks.

In the fog all by themselves on Court 1…Zipp and Precious Paul Eskine take down Doug and the Cannon.  Controversy ignited in second set as Paul takes third bathroom break and Doug can’t get his damper back on.  Zipp glad to get in the W column and Paul glad to see Doug across the net as backhand proves liable.

No Show Schneider and the winless one (Chap) go down against Brad and Come Back Shane.  Seen a few of Brad’s backhands land in so I knew Chap was in for another long night.  I’m thinking a few beer prior may help.  Couldn’t hurt.  Cloud over Schneider’s no show weighs him down and just puts off the inevitable one more week.

The Ego goes down.  The #notsoFairest one of them all gets humbled by Penny Stock Bill and Ray.  Billy Billy Billy was just what the doctor ordered for Ray.  Penny Stock playing like a champion after taking yet another match from theEgo. For the most part excellent points to all witnessing with one too many risky shots attempted by the Cannoli’s line 1.

Now to the show court.  Captain Cannoli and Mr. Miller vs. Night Owl Dave and Captain America (Gordo).  Speaking of…captain America made an appearance at N’Tini’s for all who missed it and Greg tried to steal his shield.  Disputing stories lingered for the commish being out of the lineup.  Not sure who to believe but when the commish arrives courtside with a bottle of Jamison….all is right with the world.  The night owl looked troubled from the get go.  All the sexual misconduct accusations in the media seem to have Dave nervous.  Fears of #metoo hovering over the GCS entrepreneur.  In the end Jason’s steady returns and Kevin’s passing shots (like to break Dave’s ankles) was too much for Team America on this court.  Trying to usurp the anticlimactic ending where Dave hit the worse overhead to date in B III into the net… the former athlete from Mandeville High then tries to do a standing jump over the net.  The comedic crescendo of B III never reached a higher pinnacle once it was determined he was not actually hurt (with the exception of his pride).  Picture to follow.  Commish getting nervous about liability with his name on the league moniker.  Reminded Kevin of the Fight Club saying…#1 rule of B III is that we don’t talk about B III outside of PAC.  I’m sure Dave will milk a few massages out of Sonia regarding the fall.  Wish I could have grabbed a quicker pic of the former athlete sprawled on the ground.

Continued the outing at N’tini’s after and Mark was glad to have us back.  Three double maker’s later Dave was claiming to getting tripped up by the tape on top the net.  The reality is that he was not close to the tape.  Dave’s flop will live in infamy and be a topic of discussion for the Christmas party.  Maybe a little less talking in the gym and some more box jumps.  Talk to Steve about his off season work out regime.

FYVM left the door partially open.  Councilman Keller won’t be pleased.  Cannoli’s vs. String Music will be interesting.  Real question is…can Team America play spoiler?

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
