Bentleague Blog – Taco Tuesday Edition to catch everyone up…

End of Round 3….well almost!
Brad and Jay still have to play Hal and Addison (at line 4) to complete round 3 match 2.
Double Shots lead 2-1 so far.

Saturday 11/17 and Tuesday 11/20 match Recaps
Flying Burritos vs. Effing Mother Tuckers
*Brad and Jay beat Hunt and Mitch
The former athlete Hunt goes down again against the mouth that roared.   Captain Fucker at a loss trying to right the ship as title hopes continue to fade.  Brad humming "Rub a dub dub" as his pairing with The Short Short Butcher registers the win for Andrew’s FB squad.

*Donald and B III beat John Allen and Gordo
Andrew goes back to the well with Gordo and Allen pairing with similar results.  Everyone but Andrew seems to know this pairing cannot win.  Chalk up another no-show for Kobrock who would rather no-show than post another loss in B IV's overall standings.  By the time its over, Olinde may have more match Wins than Kobrock.  Rumors about CK being on a suicide watch unfounded says the Commish.
*Kevin and Shane beat Old Bentley and Rocky
Come Back Shane (CBS) continues to impress.  Paired with the steady Shyster, they take down the aging Chairman and Rocky Aka - Ted Striker.   This FB pairing has had success previously but that was not against CBS observed the Stallion.  Andrew better mix this line-up up if he ever wants to do better than 2 wins in a match.  Watch out for Captain Burritos over the Holidays...because this guy likes kissing his sister.
*George and Todd fall to Tyler and Nick
The young guns are learning how to win.  No way they win this match 2 months ago says the Stallion.   Trial under fire has their tennis IQ soaring as the Keifer and Emilo comparisons mount.  The MT Captain very disappointed to lose this one as the normally solid tandem of Geritol George and Todd the wet sprocket go down in a surprise.
Another Chuck Woolery split for the Burritos and another scary holiday for the McQuaid nieces  è 2-2

CMC vs. Double Shots
*Hal and Vic the Mick beat down Captain Mesa and Ananth
Upset Special my ass says Vic the Mick!  Still upset at Tuesdays make up match… The Crying Cuban used every excuse imaginable to explain the beat down.  Bad Back?  Indian Lives Don’t Matter? I can't play in the cold....WHHHAAAA!   WHHHAAAA!   WHHHAAAA!   This one will  haunt El Cubano for awhile as he watches his lead against Double Shots dissipate.  Keep your excuses!  The Doctor and the Mick came to play.  Plain and simple.

*Billy and Zipp lose to Jeff and Burt
No one is enjoying B IV more than the Jedi!  Fan favorite when not on the opposite side of the net his pairing with the most available bachelor on Tinder proves too much to handle for the DS Captain and Zipp.  The Stallion has witnessed Burt doing his best Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde throughout B IV…but this time he stays engaged throughout and secures a W for CMC.  Mind games on Jedi Jeff's mind trying to figure out how to keep Mr. Hyde from reappearing.

*Mark and Steve beat Keller and Blake
The Ego and Steve prove formidable as they take down the Grumpy Councilman and an over matched Blake.  Free Willy pleased with his Undefeated Number 1 pick and enjoying plenty of pairing options heading into Round 4.  Bystanders a little disappointed this match was not closer but the Stallion was not surprised.  Nice guy on the outside, assassin like qualities on the inside for B IV’s overall number 1.  Overall Number 1 reminiscent of that other nice villain from the Bill Murray classic - Ghost Buster.  Stallion foresees plenty of sleepless nights ahead for the CMC captain.  The Crying Cuban has to be asking himself who on his roster if any can beat Stay Puff Mark?  Who will Stay Puff be paired up with next?  Observers thought his pairing with the Prince of Da Parish was tough.  He's also won tournaments with Mr. Competitive.  And now, he's won with PAC's Fitness Fanatic.  Nice options indeed for Free Willy and the Double Shots!  The Crying Cubano better figure this one out before it’s too late!

*Ferr and Perry beat Ray and Schneider
Maybe the best match of the season to date. This one had a little bit of everything: Leads taken and Leads Loss.  A loud crowd and a raucous fan base.  Single Barrel Whiskey and cold beer.  Some really Bad music from Brad and some really good music recommendations from Ferr.  A tweener for a winner from the Peacock and a serve that went into court 1 also from the Peacock.  A grueling Third Set with a tie Breaker to boot on a make-up match during the week which also happened to be on Taco Tuesday.  La Caretta’s thanks you.  This is what makes Bentleague the best!  Good tennis and Good Friends.  In the end, Mr. Competitive and the P E A C O C K hang on for the W after squandering a 5-1 lead in the third.  Valiant effort put in by Super Ray and the Sly One.  Overall, some really good tennis on a cold and chilly Tuesday.  Ask no quarter/give no quarter attitude aka Ernie Ladd rewards Double Shot twosome.  This one was not given away...by CMC...It was earned by DS.

Double Shots take 3 vs. 1 for CMC

Don't look now...but we have a new leader in the club house...

Reminder, Round 4 has subset of Captain + last three picks playing line 4.  Time to step up Bois!

Standings
Worst case scenario for Doubles Shots is a tie for 1st place with CMC pending outcome of FB match.
As it stands now…Double Shots ½ game up.

1)      Double  Shots 21W 14L
2)      CMC 21W 15L

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
