Dynamic Duo Wins Again!

11/15 Round 3 Match 2 - recap
Brrrrr…it was so cold even the Shyster Lawyers kept their hands in their own pockets vs. their clients.  Temps in the high 30s/Low 40s made winter gear paramount.  Sorry late match participants…early fair weather players left early and were small in number watching the night cap.  Kudos to the handful that stayed and supported some entertaining tennis.

Early match pitted CMC vs. the Effing Mother Tuckers
The Donald and B III win against Burt and Bruce
The Donald may have found a new permanent partner after losing a couple with MT’s 3rd round selection earlier in the year.  Hard to tell if they were that good or if Mesa sold out the Willy Nelson look alike by putting him on line 1.  So much for the “other” undefeated B IV player as this result was much different than last week for the B squared pairing.  Casual observations from this one were easy to obtain:  Burt and Bruce rather clay,   Burt and Bruce rather line 4, and Burt will lose interest quick if down a set and a break and temperature drops under 45 degrees.

Ronny and Hunt lose to Mesa and Mr. Miller
Former Kehoe France Champs take one on the chin.  M&M boys prove formidable and Mr. Miller continues winning ways after successfully sponsoring BHGH tourney at Beau Chen.  Thought MTers twosome would put up more of a fight actually.  Hard to witness the a humbled EffUHunt finding out what others have already been through….father time spares no one.  Pretty clear that his youthful athletic ability has already started to dissipate as he approaches year 40.

Kevin and Robby lose to Doubt and Ray
Defying his limitations once again.....How does he do it?  Smoke and mirror routine from the 8th rounded gives CMC a well-earned victory with Super Ray pairing.  A disappointed Shyster at a loss for words after the match trying to explain what had just transpired.  Kevin is no B III and Robby missed his compatriot pairing as Super Ray and the Bionic Doubt stay in the winner’s circle another week.  That's two in a row for Super Ray in case anyone else was counting as he continues to put his loss three weeks ago behind him.

Mitch and Doug lose to Jeff and Sid
Could Doug be waving bye-bye to four-peat hopes after loss with Captain Mother Tucker against the Jedi and Si Senor’ Sid.  Word from witnesses say Si Senor’ was the key but a steady Padawan cannot be discounted.  Stallion, actually not surprised with the result.  Everyone knows the Svelt MTer Captain is a warm weather specialist.

Stallion a little disappointed in the Mother Tucker resistance as CMC takes 3 and loses 1.

Late match pitted Free Willy’s Double Shots against Andrew’s Flying Burritos
Let the shenanigans commence (again) as Andrew swears he could only get six players out of 13.

Line 1 witnessed the Dynamic Duo (Mark and Tony) win against Big John and Gordo.
No matter how you slice it….inch for inch two of the best athletes at PAC.  Even Kenny O is jealous because tennis is the 2nd and 3rd sport of choice for these two mammoths of tennis.  Just think if they started earlier in life like Kenny O or Bentley.  Mismatch was evident early as the FB’s true line 1 was not present.  11ft 1 inch pairing too much for the taller pretenders and Big John takes another fall as Andrew’s disappointing 1st rounder.  Power, Finesse, and a tribute to the Veterans was evident as Batman and Robin put a Chuck Woolery on the FB’s line 1 imitators, 2 and 2.

Billy and Ferr win against McGuire and Nick
On paper and on the court this was a mismatch.  Have to say….not much resistance from the Flying Burrito pairing.  As the Prince of Paris Road predicted last week….the pairing of Mr. Competitive and Captain Double Shot is a force to be reckoned with.   From the side, there weren’t many highlights from the GCS Entrepreneur and it is evident he is missing his former Big Serving partner Brian Croft.  Valiant effort by Tricky Nicky covering for the out of practice Entrepreneur but just not enough gas in the tank to mount a serious challenge.  Don’t see many win’s on the horizon for these two if they continue to play higher than line 4.

Perry and Cayman lose to Andrew and Tyler

Geez.  Two tie breakers and two lost sets for Double Shots to give the Flying Burrito Captain and a Stoic Tyler the match.  Plenty of missed opportunities for Double Shots to stay close to CMC.  This one could have gone either way but in the end the FB pairing won the big points that mattered.  It’s hard to be mad at the always jovial Flying Burrito captain the the lack stoic youngster even though I wanted to be.  Lacking their normal fire and bravado it became clear the double shot duo was in trouble.  The peacock and the cannon did not like the surface, heavy balls, nor the damp chilly air and it showed on the court.  In the end it was a heart breaker for the Double shot teammates watching.  Only good thing is that we didn't have to sit in the cold for a third set although most in attendance probably would have left.

2 wins for Double shots, 1 win for the Flying Burritos with 1 to play.

Questionable FB Line 4 has Brad and Jay going against Hal and Addison on Monday.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
