Bentleague V - Round 1 Match 1 – Recap

Bentleague V - Round 1 Match 1 – Recap

Hall of Framers vs. Bring It

Jacques and El Cubano vs. Jennings and Big John
Side B delivers for Hall of Framers with Jon on the IR.  Jacques has a successful Bentleague debut on the clay with El Cubano vs. Bring It captain and Jennings who we now know is no Red Robin.  Straight set victory for HoF’ers had Bring it captain shaking his head.

Hefty Lefty and the Butcher vs. Ronny Regouffre and Ray “Pink Hat” Brouillette
Strong line 2 doesn’t disappoint for HoF’ers.  Captain Hefty seemed to be in charge from the outset hitting angle after angle.  Crafty angels and great net play by the short short wearing Butcher spelled doom for the hobbled Brouillette and his black dressed partner.  Batman’s won/loss record continues southward trajectory as predicted in Swami’s draft analysis.  No broken rackets when Butcher is involved means he had his “A” game with him on this humid September evening.  2nd win of the night out of 2 for HoF’ers.

4th Round Priola and Jacobs vs. Free Willy Spiess and Nice Guy Andrew
Pairing to watch in B V, the undefeated duo of Captain America and the tanned one does not disappoint.  On paper, this was a tall task for Bring It duo.  But, as we all know - wins and losses are decided on the court, not on paper.  First set Heartbreaker lost in an 8-6 tie breaker proved crippling to the psych for the fastest 350 pounder at PAC and smooth hitting speiss.  Reality set in in the Second set as The tanned one and the handsome one roll 6-1 to capture straight set victory.  Does the captain mix it up or just put these guys at line 3 for a guaranteed win each week.

The other Ray (Hebert) and Gekko Gordon vs. Slicing Sly Schneider and Vicious Vic
Have to admit, nice to see the other Ray get first match victory and some blog ammunition in Bentleague debut.  Observed some great servers from Ray and some classic back hand volley’s from Gordo.  Was a little surprised that the Bring it duo couldn’t get it to a third set.  Gordo’s warm up against the slicer last week must have paid dividends.
Summary:
Hall of Framers 4-0
Bring It 0-4

BFAM vs. Ball Busters

Doc Tim and The Judge vs. Steve Burgess and Jonathan (Mr.) Robinson
Young guns didn’t play scared that’s for sure.  I like what I saw from these two although the outcome was never in doubt.  I foresee some surprise wins by Mr. Irrelevant in the upcoming weeks.   I have confidence the Commish will figure it out and get his son a 4.5.  Competition will get better for the Judge and the tall one.  Stay tuned.

The Donald and “Don’t call me Edward” Hunt vs. The Ego Fair and B III
Feature match of the evening was entertaining.  One too many short lobs from EffUHunt proved too much to overcome IMO.  The Donald gave it his all and was pleased to keep it close if you want to hear about it he’ll be glad to give you a recap.  Formidable pairing for Ball Busters will be a tough out in weeks to come.  I see a challenge of undefeated’s coming real soon Ego.   Will be interesting to see how they mix in the Rooster when he makes his B V debut.

Todd the wet Sprocket and Mikey O Vs. Nick “Don’t call me overrated” Thompson and ADDRobby
Ball Buster captain playing for two lines gets his wish.  Overcoming a slow start from Tricky Nicky, the Ball Buster duo take the W in a Closer than expected match.  Captain was a little nervous watching BFAM competitors.  B III striving for mediocrity attains his goal.  Not sure if I want this guy to be my financial advisor with aspirations like that.

Tinder Dalton and Killer Kobrock vs. Cannon Cayman and Senor Sid
Burt and Chris were feeling at ease on the clay.  This one never really in doubt said some observers.   Have to question captain BFAM on the pairing.  May have been better to split up these two deuce court specialists.

Summary:
BFAM 2-2
Ball Busters 2-2

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
