9/28 ==> Round 1 Match 2 – Recap

Round 1 Match 2 – Recap

9/28/2019

Bring It      vs      B III Ball Busters

Edney / Ronny                 Fair / Brad           6-2, 6-3

Down goes the Ego!  Down goes the Ego!  First loss in Bentleague in 2 years if my facts are correct.  Ps.  Who the Eff is Edney?  RGoof aka Batman takes some blog criticism in stride and gets back int eh win column with the help of KennyO side Jennings.  BHump aka the Rooster coming off a hard week emotionally was clearly not ready for prime time action.  Will give the Rooster a pass on this one but Bring It captain has to have concerns.  Tip of the cap to Batman for serving some humble pie to the EgoFair.

JAllen / Ray                        B III / Buddy       7-6, 5-7, 1-0
Buddy doing his best “when pigs fly” imitation says no-no to Big John and Pink Hat Ray.  Welcome to B V Buddy “Sir Isaac” Newton.  This tandem won it with BIG serves that’s for sure.  Will be formitable in the future especially if they play line 2.  Oh yea…Brad will be moving down next week.

Spiess/Schneider                            Blake/Nick          6-2, 6-3

Overrated my ass says Tricky Nicky.  He even made the hen pecked one appear like a doubles playing stalwart.  Will the trickster plateau or keep raising his game and merit line  or 2 consideration.  Have a feeling he may be swapping places with the Rooster soon.  Welcome back to reality Free Willy and Mr. Sly.  Thinking the slicer needs a couple of more tools in his tool box to merit high draft position.

Andrew / Addison                          Zipp / Sid             7-6, 6-4
Eric Astrada be damned…Addison is the new Chips star and way to bring Andrew along for the ride.  Mr. Chips playing with a chip on his shoulder after taking to heart pre league draft analysis.  Challenging the swami’s 2 years away analysis lays down the gauntlet to Young Nick as players to watch NOW.  No second set decline witnessed here as his usual MO and Andrew was pleased to ride that train.

BFAM         vs      Hall of Framers

Blossman/Bentley                          Butcher/Gordo 6-3, 6-1
The ole switch-a-roo!  HOF’ers Captain counters with a jab/jab/upper cut.  Down goes the commish.  The Butcher/Baker/Candlestick maker shines again with a rock steady Gordo volleying pro level back hands at Tin Man Bentley.  What was the BFAM captain thinking throwing Purple and Gold Jay to the wolves this early on his injury comeback trail?  Shoulder was not yet ready for line 1 captain as line 1 goes to HOF’ers squad.

Tim / Hunt                         Jeff / Mesa          6-4, 6-0
Hunt gets to witness first hand some serious serve and volleying from Doctor Strange.  Master of the mystic arts, Doc T carries EffUHunt to the W.  Not the best showing for El Cubano and Hefty Lefty as Doctor Strange cements best first round pick status to date.  Cries of KennyWho replace cheers for KennyO after just two matches of B V play.

Chris / Burt                        Jacobs / Tony    5-7, 6-1, 1-0
…and Still Undefeated in Bentleague competition, the colorful duo from HOF’ers take down Tinder King and Kosher Kobrock in third set tie breaker.  Closer on the score card than in actuality, handsome duo had to rally after losing the first set in what most observers called a fluke.  After a shaky start, the Prince of Parish returned to error free tennis to aide strong net play by the tanned one to take 2nd set 6-1.  Mere formality in the tie breaker as it ends unceremoniously 10-5 to give captain HL win #2.

Hal / Jawn                          Mitch / Doug      6-4, 6-3

Consistent duo of VonNeitzschman and Keto Priola too much for the inconsistent pairing of Svelte Mitch and the South Lanarkshire Duggie.  On first glance, once I seen Duggie on the ad court I knew the pairing was in trouble.  Who said putting the forehands in the middle would work with this tandem.  Hopefully it will be the last time HL makes that mistake.  Interesting pairing of two former 4.5’s could rack up some win’s for the other Allen Brother.  Minus the line one fiasco, not a bad line up put out by captain BFAM.

Week three tonight…and the questions are starting to mount…
Rumor has it, PAC had a Peacock sighting during the week.  Will Perry the Peacock make his B V debut under the low hanging lights tonight?  Is it time to pit RCaston again Mr. Robinson so we can really gauge Mr. Irrelevant?  Who will replace BKingsdort? Does Billy McDougal remind anyone else of the Hampburgerlar?  Will Jon and the Red Robin ever play in B V?  Will Hipster Phayer lay off the deserts and do some rehab on those inflexible hips?  Will 3.5 Eskine win a match?

Looking forward to seeing some new faces…come on captains…let’s spread the wealth…yall are all playing for 2nd anyway.  If you feel otherwise…please see draft analysis blog three editions back.

See U all tonight

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
