B V Round 2 Match 1 – Recap (Saturday Oct 5th)

Round 2 Match 1 – Recap

Saturday Oct 5th

Bring It vs. Hall of Framers

Ray and Big John vs. Jacques and Mesa
Snap.  Heal up Jon…we need you.  2nd disappointing outing for HOF’ers duo.  Have a sneaky suspicion Jacquesand Mesa don’t like center stage.  Only win came on the dirt out of the limelight of Court 5 and 6 where the crowd is close.  May want to consider this on future outings captain HL.  Hats off to the Big Fella and Ray.  Everytime I looked over I seen crisp volleys by Big John or errors by Jacques and El Cubano.

Ronny and Spiess vs. Jeff T and Steve Jacobs
Nice to see Jeff and Steve bounce back from disappointing sectional loss.  Captain exploring some new options separating proven line 3 pairing in round 1.  Decision would have really paid dividend  if only line 1 would have come through. Swami believes 8am match played into slow start by Batman and Spiess.   A little too early for this combo knowing their Friday nights were mostly likely filled with some cheap wine for Willy and some THC for Goof.

Ferrer and Addison vs. Little Nada and Gordo
Hey, come on, come along take a ride
There's a party over there, that ain't no jive
It's live, live, it's all the way live
Don't even have to walk, don't even have to drive
Just slide, glide, slippity-slide
Just forget about your troubles and your nine to five
And just sail on (that's what you do), just sail on

Taking a cue from the 1980 Lakeside hit….the 4 and Oh HOF’ers Tandem take down Francis Llewelyn Poncherello (Ponch) Melacon and One Unplugged in a tightly contested full three setter.  Gordo and Little Nadal came out on fire and a little blog envy set in for young Ponch in critical third set serving at 5-6.  Besides the ending double fault this was was not given away.  It was earned by the heavy forehands and serves by the California Kid and the precision shotmaking of Little Nadal.

Andrew and Tyler vs. Fast Freddie Olinde and Brent Edwards

Rude welcome for a couple of Beau Chen East migrators.  Tall hill to climb getting unorthodox Andrew out of the gate and an improving Ditch and Dive Tyler.  Respectable 2nd set score encouraging for future HOF’ers matches but on this day…the athletes were on the Bring It side of the net.

BFAM vs. Ball Busters

Phayer and Jawn vs ADHD- Robby and Blake
Phayer debut in B V a success.  Nice pairing BFAM captain.  Keto Jawn approaching lower 200’s a good sign for health and tennis game.  Loss of focus from ADHD-Robbie after a few errors from his partner spells doom against this savvy pairing.  Besides that, Econo may have suffered a knee injury to further disappoint his captain’s trust.  Get well soon Robbie, Big Match against HOF’ers coming up.

Kobrock and Burt vs. Zipp and Ananth
No Lefty Luck for Zipp and Ananth in this one.  When the going got tough…Ananth’s footwork went missing.  Indian lives matter only when you move your feet before you hit the ball.  Kosher Kobrock and the Mustache too much to handle securing 2 of 2 for BFAM with 2 still to play.

Inquiry light on Commish for BFAM.  See a few players listed on the roster who have not made an appearance yet.  We know Jay Bird was at the LSU game but really Donald…no one else could make it out on the scheduled day to compete?

The Donald and Hunt vs. Fair and Brad
TBD

Keller and DaveG vs. Sean and B III
TBD

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
