B V Round 2 Match 3 Recap - Oct 19th, Saturday (two rounds left peeps)

B V Round 2 Match 3 Recap
Oct 19th, Saturday

Sorry for the late recap.

8:00        Hall of Framers vs            B III Ball Busters

                Jon / Jeff                             B III / Fair             6-2, 5-7, 6-4

Pretty ambitious of Captain Ball Buster to call his own number for line 1.  May regret not putting SirIsaac Newton here after seeing final tally.   EgoFair, B III’s number 1 comes up a little SHORT (no pun intended).  J .  Jon answers the bell again with this captain vs. captain match-up for HOF’ers.

                Mesa / Butcher                 Buddy / Brad     6-4,7-6
Swami thought his squad had a chance to sweep looking across the pairings.  Brad must have stepped it up or the Mesa Butcher pairing played too many to Sirisaac.  B III pleased with the unexpected victory.

                Tony / Mitch                      Blake / McDougal             6-4,6-1
A lot of unwarranted controversy surrounding this line 3 match up.  Commish interjecting his dictatorship of PAC tennis quickly put a nix on the madness.  Thought it was ladies Northshore tennis with all the drama brought on by a Simple 30 minute bump up to a Saturday’s line 3 start time.  B III in a tizzy take pink hat wussy mantel from SuperRay as the whiniest captain to date.  Swami didn’t fully understand having to name players for such a request (you should only have to name the line) but if Commish Bentley wants to play Alac Baldwin in Malice who am I to argue.  As for the tennis…first set was closer than it should have been.  Swami liked what he saw during the match from Billy Mac (aka. The hamburgerler) after a rough warm up but too big a hill to climb going against Svelte Mitch and the 5 and 1 , back into the win column,  MVP candidate.
                Jacobs / Hebert                 Econo / Rocky    6-2,6-3
Should have left the match-ups alone B III.  Splitting up the handsome combination of the tanned one and little Nadal made the line ups stronger from top to bottom says the Swami.  Put it away – Ray too much at the net paired with the steady play of Box Jumping Jacobs.  Two days off a head scratching loss on Thursday the BB Captain Throws the duo back together for reasons unknown to the players themselves.  ADHDRobbie craving the earlier pairings with the captain himself having a hard time staying engaged at line 3 and 4.

Hall of Framers take 3.

9:30        BFAM    vs            Bring It
                Donald/Hal                         Kenny / Ronny  6-2,6-4
Wow.  Talk about head scratching match-up.  The Donald and 9th rounder at line 1 against the best player in the league.   Way to grease the road for the Red Robin and offer yourself up as a sacrificial lamb.  Ronny enjoying Kenny O pairing not having an issue racking up wins.
                Hunt / Keller                     John / Ray           6-1,4-6,6-4
Swami surprised by the outcome of this one.  Keller taking out some voter revenge against Big John and SuperRay in full three setter.  Not so incredible on the court from what I hear Ray and that may be because it was a full third set.  This pair has been known to lose a step or too late in close matches.

                Chris / Burt                         Tyler / Dreher    6-4,6-2
Chris and Burt pairing paying dividends for BFAM as long as the prince of the parish is not on the other side of the net.  Tough task for Young Tyler and newbie William Dreher but welcome to B V Bill.  Not sure why Bring it captain didn’t put you at line 4 to give you a fighting chance but way to represent.

                Jay / Wayne                       Ferr / Addi          6-2,6-2
And to get the split, Ferr and Addison move to line 4 for easy victory against rookie Wayne and JayBird.  Again, a flip of line 3 and 4 may have made for a closer match but when your captains are playing for splits, this is what you get.  This is why pelican park hands out participation trophies.  Congrats on 3rd and 4th play participation trophies Allen Brothers.

BFAM and Bring it Split. 2 -2

End of
Round 2.  Hall of Famers with a 3 line lead in the standings.
Welcome to Round 3.
Round 3.)  One singles line and 4 doubles lines.

Could this format get Bring It led by the Red Baron into contention?  Who has the mental fortitude to step up and play singles?  Will Jacques ever show his face on a Bentleague V Court again?  Can the Ego justify first round selection with a couple of W’s in singles?  Will Ray give his pink wussy hat to B III for Christmas?  Will Bentley’s small g god-complex cause hard feelings amongst the masses because of the blatant favoritism shown to his pink hat wearing son?

These questions and more to be answered in the next two rounds!!!!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
