Bentleague V recap - Oct 17th, Thursday - Round 2 Match 2

                                                                Bentleague V recap - Oct 17th, Thursday
Round 2 Match 2

6:00        Bring It vs            B III Ball Busters
                Kenny/Ronny                    Buddy/ Brad       6-4,7-6
Kenny is for real and Brad is over matched playing line 1.  Also of note, Ronny loves playing (and eating at) with the Red Robin.

                Ray / Ferr                            BIII / Fair             7-5,6-2
B III and Fair are a tough out.  Will be tough the rest of the way if Ball Busters want to keep throwing the sacrificial Rooster to the Roost.  Close first set providing false glimmer of hope for Bring it tandum.

                Skip / Paul                           Sid / Zipp             6-7,7-5,6-4
Wow.  Auburn alum would have had a hard time explaining this loss if it indeed transpired.  Underrated Sneaky Skip Scoggin almost pulls off miracle (winning with Eskine) in nail biter three setter.  Senor forehand and the lefty should have won it in straights says the Swami but a W is a W nonetheless so congrats.

                Addison / Ryan                 Econo/Rocky      4-6,6-4,7-6

Ouch says B III.  Addison and Ryan humble the grunting ADHD-Econo and Air Supply-Rocky.  Rumors of third set serving issues could play a role in future matches for Econo as Captain Ball Buster scratches his head for future pairing for the flighty sixth rounder.  Back to back losses for Econo hurt Ball Buster’s chances to make up ground on league leader.

Split for the 6pm match

7:30        BFAM    vs            Hall of Framers
                Tim / Hunt                          Jon / Mesa         6-2,6-2

Wow!  Nice Debut from the former Davis Cup player and a sight for sore eyes for Hefty Lefty.  Also, exactly what El Cubano needed to get back in the win column after the messy divorce from Doc Jacque.
This won was over quick setting up a show down next week between the two clear Number 1’s.

                Donald / Burt                     Jeff / Butcher    3-6,6-4,6-4
“Whoa is me” Donald suffers tough third set loss after mixing up the BFAM match ups a bit.  Score board had it pretty even and that is just fine with Donald as long as it was close.  Bet you the Donald would a 1st round pick in horseshoes and hand grenades.  Good win for the captain HOF’er and Butcher.  We needed it after the line 3 fiasco.

                Kevin / Chris                      Tony / Gordo     2-6,6-3,6-3

It pains me to type this!  Down goes two undefeated’s HOF’ers.  Damn!  It took a pulled groin and some wicked forehands from Kobrock to derail the trend setter tony.  After a convincing first set victory pulled Groin Gordo tweaks something early in the 2nd set.  Then, Phony Phayer pulls up lame four games later still in the 2nd set to give the previously undefeated’s a fighting chance.  In the end, it was not meant to be.  Valiant effort by both injured warriors.  Should have brought out the pipe early to mask the pain in hindsight GimpyGroinGordo.  Without the running forehand, the end was a fore gone conclusion for the dapperly dressed Prince of Da Parish.  Phony Phayer had witnesses questioning his injury after winning match point on a serve and volley put away.  Just another ploy from the Scheister or real injury?  Only Morris Bart knows…before you accept a quick check…check with Phony Phayer.

                Seth / Caston                     Sumner / Cazabon           6-2,7-5

Four Bentleague V debuts on court 5 at 7:30pm and it was just what the Hall of Famers needed.  Commish happy to see some new blood and donated finger sandwiches to welcome them in.  Thanks Barbara.  There was a hamburgerler signting early but I don’t believe he played.  Just remember captains…everyone needs 2 matches minimum.  Even if the Big Indian keeps declining invites, he must play two matches.  Could affect standings in the end Commish so get ready to award L’s for those breaking the rules.  Steady Sumner a difference maker from the side view and some nice shots witnessed by the crowd welcoming the new comers.  Victory for Hall Famers needed to move into sole number 1.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
