B V - 11/21/19 Match Recap: and with one to go....

B V - 11/21/19 Match Recap:

B, III/Fair over Kenny/Ray
6-1, 6-4

Wow.  Almost a Bagel in the first set.  Looks like Jon is the only one who can slow down the B III and Ego train.  Hard to cheer for these cocky SOB’s but you cannot deny they are a tough out.  Tough week for Kenny O and Super Ray as similar results were attained in BHGH Tourney.

Buddy/Brad over John/Ronny
6-4, 6-0

Alex who?  SirIsaac a first round blessing for BIII title run.  Best player not named Jon and this guy actually shows up every week.  Tide turned when this guy was added to your roster that’s for sure.  Anyone who can make Brad a top tier player is #1 in my book.  See results of BHGH round 1 match for reference.

Schnieder/Spiess over Billy/Sid
6-0, 6-0

Ouch.  Rude welcome back for BillyMac.  And you thought the RobbyTrain was difficult to contend with at Tops’l.  Senor Sid said to be nice so will keep it short.  Glad I didn’t watch this one.  Can’t believe nice guy FreeWilly didn’t give yall a game or two.  Damn Schneider!

Nick/Robby over Addison/Ferrer
4-6, 6-2, 11-9

Entertaining match.  Oh what could have been for WannaBeNick.  He definitely had his chances.  Great points and shots across the board but a little too inconsistent from young Melacon on the crucial points.  Glad the infamous line call did not play a part in the result.  Swami not sad with the result because it sets up the intriguing challenge match between the Prince of the Parish and Young Nick on Saturday.  Will ADHD’s wrist heal up in time?  Will Nick’s short comings against the Stallion in singles get exposed in the doubles match-up.
Burgess/Cayman over Vic/Tyler
6-2, 6-2
Another wow moment.  I would have lost money on this one.  Vicious Vic “the Cagy veteran” suffers another defeat at the hands of Cannon Cayman.  8th rounder justifies draft position with impressive showing.  Once this guy gets on a roll, the bombs that sometimes hit the back of the fence seem to always hit green.  Swami has seen this play out time again…when the Cannon’s cylinders are firing, and the bombs are landing in….the opponent really doesn’t have a chance.  Burgess supplying equal fire power at times spells doom for the Ditch and Dive bandit and the Vicster.

Ball Busters 4-1 Victory!!!

**
Donald/Dave over Greg/Ronnie C
6-3,6-2

Talk about a sacrifice.  Sorry Ronnie C.  Plan without 1st rounders was to sacrifice line 1 and try to win 2 through 5.  You know what the say about better laid plans.  This one got turned upside down in the following paragraph.  Welcome back to Groin Gordo but coach didn’t do you any favors.  Gaelic Dave and jump on board Donald too much for this pairing.  Way to build up your stats Donald.

Hunt/Shane over Jeff/Mike
6-3, 6-4

Geez.  This one hurts to summarize.  Talk about going back to a dry well.  Is Hefty Lefty reading the blog.  This pairing continues to disappoint.  How about mixing in the box jumper or little Nadal.  If you wanted to sacrifice someone at line one…why couldn’t it be the underachieving 3rd rounder.  I don’t mean to be so hard on yall but you are ruining my pre-draft analysis.  Shane comes off IR to get line 2 victory in dedication to our Commish.  Prayers and healing to the Captain who went under the knife today.  This pick up for the injured Bentley propelling BFAM to 2nd place.  With a little help from HOF captain.

Steve/Tony over Burt/Chris
6-3,1-6,1-0
And still undefeated…..
Tale of two sets early with each team taking one.  Post-game analysis said handsome duo would have won in straights if Jacobs’ eyes would have adjusted to the lights sooner.  Glad we’ll have Young Nick during the day for future reference.  Overzealous crowd quieted by the Saint of St. Bernard’s hustle and steady back hand play against the Bright colored Tinder MVP and top spin maestro Kobrock.  Bystanders overheard saying early money was on the tanned one and little Nadal.  Swami agrees.  No way this guy takes a L after flying in early from USDA headquarters in DC.

John P/Kevin over Kenny S/Mitch
7-6,6-2

Writing was on the wall after the close 1st set tie breaker loss.  Keto John and the Phony one too tough on dirt after squeaking first set out.  2nd set mere formality.  May have been a different story if HOF duo could have one that first set said onlookers.  BFAM pair keeps too many balls in play.  Swami says outcome never really in doubt.

Todd/Mike over Brent/Ken W
6-3, 6-4
Rumors of a mid-set injury may have played a part.  Todd the wet sprocket improving draft stock for B VI next year with a few late season W’s.  Not blaming you captain.  This one looked like a win on paper to me too.  Congrats Mike O.  This guy never takes a point off.

BFAM win 4-1.

Standings going into final match…
So you are saying there is a chance?  BFAM mathematically still in the hunt.  Brother has to throw all five and somehow HOF’ers have to sweep.  Congrats Ball Busters…fight for 2nd place is on!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
