Swami’s Deep Dive Analysis of Bentleague V

Swami’s Deep Dive Analysis of Bentleague V

Team Bring It Deep Dive Analysis – John Allen Captain

Player Addison (NickWannaBeMelacon – 5 Wins 4 Losses.
Fair to midland for a 7th round selection.  Captain probably expected better.  NickWannaBe not quite ready for prime time but winning record says he is headed in the right direction.

Player Andrew (Burrito) McQuaid – 2 Wins, 5 Losses.
I thought the South of the Border Loving Burrito McQuaid could be rivaling a couple of others for biggest disappointment on Bring It until I seen 9th round selection.  May have to add a few tools to the tennis tool chest to stop the downward spiral of his tennis game.  Hitting one or two less out balls per match may equate to a couple of more wins.

Player Bill (Free Willy) Spiess – 2 Wins, 7 Losses.  from the 4th round selection that was drafted before me.
I stand corrected.  Swami confounded by 7 losses by Free Willy Spiess.  Thinking this could be biggest disappointment as 4th Round selection until I did further analysis.  5 losses at Line 3 Billy.  I would say somebody hide the knives but if no one said the score after the match he may have thought he won.

Player (Geritol) George Strain – 0 Wins, 3 Losses.
Yikes.  Best of the Geritol three has no bragging rights this year.  Loss at line 5 very disappointing.  14% games won means you weren’t even in the match most of the time.

Player Jennings (pink eye) Edney – 2 Wins, 1 Loss.  62% games one percentage makes sense.   A little better than his 5.0 counterpart so BigJohn could have benefited from this analysis sooner.

Player/Captain John (the Duke) Allen – 3 Wins, 6 Losses
I recall this guy going undefeated in State and Sectionals!  Welcome to 4.5 tennis.  Playing tougher competition week in and week out did not help out the over all record but 33% win/loss.  Rules forcing captain on Line 1 or 2 really played a part in this teams demise.  This one and two others that I will get too.

Player Kenny (Red Baron Pizza) Otillo – 4 Wins, 3 Losses.
Red Baron said he excelled at doubles prior to becoming a singles specialist.  Swami scratching his head.  Lob not a weapon against the likes of Joh, B III, and DocDevrage.  Although 57% winning percentage probably a disappointment, nice to have you out with us.  At least was on the court 7 times and all at line 1.  Games won at 49 % so assume a point or two away from another couple of victories.

Player Mark (one unplugged) Ferrer – 3 Wins, 6 Losses
Swami a little surprised by 33% percent winning percentage spread amongst line 2-4.  Take the two line two outings out the mix and the results would have been more respectable.  Witnessed this guys game improving each week on Taco Tuesday’s so really surprised with 40% stat of sets won.

Player Mark (The Sly Slicer) Schneider – 4 Wins and 3 Losses
3 singles victories helped stats to 57% winning percentage and favorable pairings.

Player Paul (He loves Tim TeboEskine – 0 Wins, 2 Losses.  One at line 3, and one at line 5.  I’ll forgive line 3 loss Paulie, but don’t blame the coach for lack of PT if you cannot win line 5.

Player Ray (not so Super) Brouillet – 1 Win, 9 Losses
I guess the knee was not quite ready.  I am sure Big John would have liked to know about this status before he made you his 2nd round selection.  I recall the rehab process for a knee, so won’t be too hard on you Ray.   Results Not So Super though.  All at line 1 and 2 so new rule topic for discussion amongst the masses.

Player Ronny (Batman) Regouffre – 4 Wins, 6 Losses.
40% winning percentage, for line 1 and 2 outings.  Wishful thinking Goof on 1 or 2 cake walks to build up won Loss percentages.

Player Ryan (bottomless pit) Doubt – 1 Win, 2 Losses.
Swami says Early analysis re. W’s and L’s about right for the buffet loving bottomless pit .  1 match each at line 3,4,5 and assuming victory came at line 5.  Better line draws may have helped W %.

(Sir) Skip (Scoggin – 0 Wins, 3 Losses at lines 3,4,and 5.  I blame the Captain on this one.   13th rounder playing line 3.  Come on BigJohn.

Player Tyler (Ditch and Dive) Harper – 1 Win, 7 Losses.  Went to the well once to often with this guy based on record.  Game appears on the accent but growing weary of NotNick comparisons.  Most of the losses at line 4 so hmmmm!

Player (Vicious) Vic Morlas -  0 Wins, 4 Losses.
Three losses at line 4 and 5.  Records don’t lie.

Player William (I used to be a professional basketball player) Dreher – 0 Wins,  2Losses.
Seen this guy dunk on a basketball court, so surprised by the serve only game arsenal.  Room for potential.

BFAM Deep Dive Analysis

Burt (TINDER MVP) Dalton – 5 Wins, 7 Losses from the 4th round selection that was drafted before me.
42 % winning percentage with 7 lines at line 3 and 3 lines at line 4.  Throw in a couple at 1 and 2 and not a bad value pick if you like below 50% players.

Chris (Kosher) Kobrock – 8 Wins, 3 Losses.
Nice redemption by Kosher Kobrock after sub par record for his worthy tennis game last year.  Couple of winning singles matches helped.

David (Gaelic ) Gazely – 4 Wins, 3 Losses
57 % winning percentage at line 1 and 2.  Gaelic Gazely equals Kenny O in %.
Not too shabby.

Donald (why do they like my brother better) Allen – 4 Wins, 6 Losses.
Should be beating himself up re. One of these losses now that final standings are revealed.

Hal (Doc Von) Neitzschman – 4 wins and 2 losses
3 matches at line 4 and 5 helped W %.  One sacrifice at line 1 didn’t help.  Good record for 9th rounder.  Next years captains better pay attention to W’s and L’s and past draft order.

(EffU) Hunt Vaughn – 7 Wins and 3 Losses.
Most matches coming at line 2 so good production from 3rd rounder.  65% sets won and love player with the guy formally known as Judge Keller.

(Jawn from Da Parish)/John from Mandeville Priola – 4 Wins, 1 loss.
4 matches at line 4.  All this guy does is Win.  Something up with 6th round selections playing most matches at line 4 though.

Jay (who likes practice) Blossman 1 Win, 2 Losses
Coming off an injury so about as predicted.  33 percent on sets one so a few toss ups away from a winning percentage.

John (Back to Grumpy) Keller – 6 wins, and 2 losses.
Another solid year from JK.  All at line 1 and 2.  If only you could have gotten one more win at  Sectionals before we all got bumped up.

Kevin (Phoney Squirrel) Phayer – 3 Wins, 2 losses for the new HIpster.
60% winner on two new hips.  Take that to the bank Capt.  Never Porget the Phoney Phayer Injury against me though.  SOB fainted a hammy and then served and volley’d for the game winner.

Mike (The other) Ottillio – 1 Win and 2 Losses for the newbie.
33% respectable.  Also sets one at 33%.  Games at 47% so numbers tell me he won with guile and not tennis shots.

Robby (don’t call me Mr. Irrelevant) Caston - 0 and 3 for Mr. Irrelevant.
Oh that was last year.  Better start practicing for B VI....

Seth (Crazy Eyes) Monagham - 2 Wins and 1 loss for the Crazy Eyed Rap god (small g).
Nice Mid season acquisition.   I’ll take a winning percentage player mid season any time.

(Come Back) Shane McCarthy (repl Bentley Harvey), 3 Wins, 4 losses.
Don't think I have the stats broken out.  I am sure the high percentage of losses are on the Chairman with the bad back, bad knees, and bad neck.  Have to say... this was the most lopsided mid season replacement I have ever witnessed.  Thank god (small g), B III wasn’t allowed to pick him up as desired.
Swami says....This guy competes.  I’d go to war with him any day of the week.

Tim (I can fix that) Devraj – 2 Wins, 2 Losses.
Doc hustling business not wins.  50% winning percentage, and a few surgeries makes for a good season.

Todd (the wet sproket) Delcambre 3 Wins, 2 Losses.  Most lines at 4 and 5.
As much as this guy plays...he should be playing and winning at Line 3.  But winning percentage at round 10 not too shabby.

(Insane) Wayne Durr - 1 Win, 2 Losses.
Welcome addition to B V.  Need to get these guys out here more.  33% for first timers are welcome additions.   Pay attention Paulie.

Hall of Framers Deep Dive – Hefty Lefty Captain

Brent (Gigalo) Edwards 0 Wins, 3 Losses.
1 sacrifice at line one and a couple of losses at 4 and 5.  Swami very surprised.  thought the talent at 15 was better than the record.

Doug (don’t hit it to my back hand) Autin 1 Win, 3 Losses.
The gig is up.  I recall this guy having titles to his name.  25% winning percentages.  Swami believes his winning percentage is directly tied to his single status.  Fat cat and happy with a women spells L’s for Autin.

Fred (Minimum match) Olinde - 1 and 1 baby.
Well worth the 30 dollars ehhh Freddie.  Tell the wife to let you out more.  Looking at the rest of these percentages we could have used you more.

Greg (Geecko) Gordon 5 Wins 2 Losses.  71 % winning percentage.  65 % sets won.  I thought you only had the 1 groin loss against Phony Phayer so not recalling the other one.  Either way...nice season from the 6th rounder.  4 at line 3 BTW.

Jacques (that is why I am a member of SC) Peltier – 1 Win and 3 Losses.  3 at line 1.
Oh Jon...” where art thou”.  Damn, 25% from our number 1B.  And he didn’t play singles.  wth Capt.

Jay (short shorts) Butcher - 5 Wins and 5 Losses
50% from your number 2 pick.  All at line 1 and 2 with 6 being at line 2.  New rule was not kind.

Jeff (Hefty Lefty) Thompson - 5 Wins 6 Losses.
Ditto as above.  Swami didn’t realize full force of mandatory line assignments when making pre draft grading scores and missing our 1 A didn’t help.  HL looks a lot faster playing with Jon.

Jon (Sultan of the Slopes and tennis) Buise 5 Wins and 0  losses.
SOB.  Only 5 matches played.  1 of 2 undefeateds.  Assuming Captain didn’t bench you we could have used you A LOT more.

Ken (Not winter, I prefer) Sumner - 4 Wins and 3 Losses.
Six times at line 4.  Captain got in a groove and didn’t deviate.  Winning percentage in first year member of B V.  Nice welcome.

Ken (Just) Winn 2 and 2.
Kissing your sister is not Winning.  Welcome to B V.  Better than a losing record though.

Mike (El Cubano) Mesa 4 Wins and 7 Losses.
Lost his competitive edge getting bumped up last year and moving on up George Jefferson style.  Lost some heart breakers.  At least they  broke Jeff’s heart and my pre-draft predictions.

(Svelt) Mitch Tucker 4 Wins and 4 Losses.
Good enough for East Jeff.  Not good enough for Bentleague V.  Eff Me!

Ray (don’t call me a quitter) Hebert - 4 wins, and 2 losses.
Nice record for 8th rounder with 3 at line 4 and 1 at line 5.  Could have used this production in 3rd and 4th round.

Robert (Anglo Hispanic) Groeneveld - 0 wins in 4 losses.
Ouch.  This guy’s game is too good to lose this many matches.  Jeffro didn’t do you any favors playing you three times at singles.  3.5 hour singles match vs. Kobrock will go down in infamy.  (then Chris played 2 more hours of doubles).

Ronnie (free estimates) Cazaubon - 1 and 1 for mid season replacement.
acriface at line 1 and 1 win at line 4 works for me.

(The tanned one) Steve Jacobs – 7 Wins and 0 losses.
Only other undefeated player besides Jon.   1 win at line 2, 5 at line 3, and 1 at line 4.  I knew the middle of this line up was tough.

Tony (the Tiga) Priola – 9 Wins and 1 Loss.
Caveat’ ==> One loss coming in the infamous groin match.  All 10 lines at line 3.  Enough said.  Well...may be drafted too low.  Probably a good thing not drafted by B III.

Ball Busters Deep Dive – B III Captain

Ananth (Indian Lives Matter) Desik - 1 Win and 1 Loss
Record very similar to “never want to play” Olinde.  50% on sets won and loss so I’m sure you will be happy with the holidays coming.  a lot of kissing sister’s and aunt’s.

Bentley (I fake my injuries) Harvey III 9 Wins and 3 Losses.
Losses against 1A Jon.  This captain’s game by far best suited for 4.5/5.0 tennis additions.  Lets give credit where credit is due.  These guys separated themselves at line 1 and line 2 all year.  As much as it pains me to say it.

Billy (the hamburgular) McDougal 0 wins, 3 losses.
And you thought ADHD Robby was hard to deal with.  A welcome back to tennis during Bentleague ain’t no walk in the park.  2 losses at line 3 may have been a sacrifice for the title.

(henpecked) Blake Andrews 1 Win, 3  Losses.
25 % winning percentage.  7th Rounders across the board didn’t fare well.

Brad (can’t handle my liquor) Humphreys 7 Wins, 3 Losses
Geez.  Thank god for Sir Issacc (Buddy) Newton.  Made Brad worthy 3 round selection.  You think he wins any of the matches Mesa lost.  Not without Buddy or Fair.

Buddy (Sir Isaac) Newton 6 Wins 2 Losses.
Alex Who.  Nice replacement addition.  Dude hits the ball hard.  Nice guy too.  if you can put up with Brad you get a seat at the table.  Mark Fair may make you buy but you get a seat.

(Cannon) Cayman Sinclair 4 Wins 4 Losses.
Solld as always at 8.  2 with the Peacock hurt your record.  With the right partner and right temperament, this guy just wins titles.

Greg (out of the office) Zipp 2 Wins and 2 Losses.
Merry Christmas.  see above.  At least Alise is now in your family.

Jonathan (won’t be last next year) Robinson 1 win and 3 losses.
You won the one that mattered.  Still pissed they were allowed to set that one up.  R Caston should not be playing singles.  Did one match matter in the final standings.  See asterik *

Mark (The Ego) Fair 9 wins and 3 losses.
More losses than he is used to but Capt and 1st rounding winning 9 a piece is huge.  I blame you for not drafting me at 3 or 4.

(Tricky) Nick Thompson 8 Wins and 1 loss from the 5 rounder.  vying for MVP until the last match.
Great year Tricky Nicky.  Cemented title for Ball Busters week in and week out.  covered up some other shaky draft selections.

Perry (The Peacock) Gaffney 1 win, 2 losses.
Captain must have lost your number.  4th rounder with only 3 matches played.  Oh yea...he quit calling on purpose.  Another player drafted before me in round 4.

Robby (ADHD) Economedies 7 wins, 4 losses.
Solid sixth rounder.  pretty similar to HOF’ers sixth rounder.  Don’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what lines won B III the championship.  What a stupid rule forcing top three into the top two lines.

Rocky (Freebird) Payne 0 wins and 3 losses.
3 losses at line 4 and 5.  Must have been jet lagged.

Sean (I'd rather be fishing) O'Connel 2 wins and 1 loss.
Held the rope until Buddy came along.  Would rather be fishing but at least no one got head butted.

(Senor’) Sid Hauptmann – 2 wins, 3 losses.
Three at line 3 (ambitious) and 2 at line 4 (makes more sense).  Sen ore forehand formidable if he stays with the bread and butter shot.

Steven (my school is better than your) Burgess 2 wins and 2 losses
First year participant.  This guy can hit it hard also.  Sometimes it even lands in.  50 5 sets won and 50% games won.  I see a pattern.

Swami would like to thank the Commish and Chairman of the Board Bentley for another successful year.
Thanks to PAC and Barbara for putting up with us and allowing us to play in our league.
Thanks also to Cannon Cayman for hosting pre and post league celebrations.
Thanks also to Jedi Jeffro for the statistics.  Read em’ once then burn em’ like you were in the hangover movie.

Congrats to B III’s Ball Busters’ on a hard fought B V Title.
92% winning percentage at line 2 is glaring.  Money ball failed us Jedi!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
