Tim the knife Devraj and Gaelic Gazely humble Sir Issac and the Ego in a close three setter.  Crowd roars heard three courts away as Buddy the elf and Bruised Ego Fair receive another helping of humble pie.

Bitter Beer Face Melacon punches own ticket for line 2 and bites off a little too much vs. Braggert Brad and Dr. DOO DOO Dautriev.  Brad racking up wins with A= plus partnership.  Death living up to his name bathing in cat shit at Butchers camp unfounded.  Does Bentleague mandate 14-day quarantine?  Dr. Doo Doo hitting bombs and coughing on everyone not cool.  Commish, we may need a new rule re. coming back after COVID.  How about a note from a doctor showing negative test results aka Juan Esptein.

Speiss and Autin at line 3?  Come on Addi…  Lay off the gummies while making the line-up.  Is Addison selling his soul to the highest bidder?  Don’t start conceding lines midway through the season.  Is Shane paying him under the table to compromise Swami’s pre-season predictions?  Free Willy and Bogalusa Autin having a false since of accomplishment during the week after taking the Malauchi brothers to to three sets.  In the end, this one was lopsided and the end never in doubt.  Just like vs. the malauchi brothers.  Back to the drawing board Smackenroe captain.

Welcome to the winner’s circle Burrito McQuaid.  BSS Captain may have found another Formidable tandem pairing the Big Burrito with Charlie Hustle Ferr.  Burrito many have to lay off the pickle ball to stay in winner’s circle though.  Cannon Sinclair and the other-Otillo kept it close losing 4 and 4.

Yea.  Its official.  Smackenroe on the take.  Anglo Hispanic Groeneveld and Liberal Ray take down Folkins and Harper.  Newbie Folkins and Dine and Ditch gave it a valiant try, but the brooms came out none the less for BSS.  First sweep of B VI has Smackenroe going south fast.  Could play a major role in B VI championship race for all the wrong reasons.

Swami knows Injuries are a part of the campaign but losing B III this early will hurt.  He was just hitting his stride with Mr. Anderson as a part of the four horsemen.  Swami sees executive assistant role playing out to help FOY stay in title chase.  John Denver look-a-like Saba and Russell kept it close early but in the end Juan Buise and Taz smith were too tough.  Missed opportunities in that first tie breaker could have made for a different outcome in playing from behind.  Swami has seen what a little pressure can do when Yawn Buise is challenged.  Taz showing A game stepping into line 1 makes for a nice one -two punch while Jock Peltier out of the line-up.

Switch-a-roo for Marauders pays off sacrificing line 2.   Sorry Paulie – just another defeat without your lover Doug.  Someone must not want you to win playing you at line 2.  Heard Jared from Subway tossed his racket to add insult to injury.  Don’t sweat it Jared.  You were not supposed to win this match.  Question remains if Mr. Rehash could win at line 2 without Taz.  You would have thought a line 2 match up could have secured more points unless the MM captain lacked confidence.

Big Honeysuckle and ADHD no match for The Donald and Hefty Lefty at line 3.  MM captain sacrifices 4 points for 3.  Time to go chalk vs. chalk captains.  As previously mentioned… WINs are not as important as points.  Effing cockamamie scoring designed by lawyers.  Failed experiment captain Nick with this pairing.  Back to the drawing board for you too.

Match of the night on the outskirts at line 4.  Svelte Mitch (best left hander at PAC) and Lil Nadal take on the short commish and stair master king Kobrock.  FOY win a Close first set.  FOY jump out early in the second only to be denied.  Tantalizing third ends at 6-4 for FOY.  Punky Brewster Phayer goes down yet again vs. #AnotherPriola.    Swami knows Lil Nadal will battle till the death and I’d bet money on him any day of the week.  Although the Baseline battles were tough, the difference was Svelte Mitch’s volleys.    If this guy stays off the IR, he will continue to rack up W’s the best sixth rounder of B VI.

Captain Todd at line 5?  Shane at 3, Addison at 2, and Nick at 2.  I think this may pay dividends when we get to round 3.  In the end, Sly Schneider and Toad the Wet Sprokett too much for JayBird Blossman and the Chairman.  Maybe a beer in hand would have equalized the matchups JayBird.  Chairman goes to .500 as they lose in two even though the 2nd set was close.  S

Fountain of Youth lose first majority of matches all year and fail to make up ground against MM.

Marauders 10, FOY 6.

Masses now circling Smackenroe on the schedule trying to get back in the race.

Shane takes one for the team signing himself and Charlie hustle on at line 1.  Admire the captain for not sacrificing his mid round or lower round selections for this mismatch.  After coming out of the gate like gang busters, they lose 12 straight to go down 6-2 and 6-0.  Does Dr. Doo Doo have a line 2 ceiling?  Why not put him at line 1.  Strategy backfires as line 2 of Ed and Gazeley go down.  Speaking of…can Gazeley win without Kenny or Tim the Knife?

Look who is on the winning side of line 2 again.  The Donald and Taz Smith.  Is the Donald really undefeated?  Can anyone beat these two?  After a pre-season loss to FOY, these two seem unstoppable and along with Jock and Juan racking up points left and right for MM squad.  Now we know who really crushed the first four picks.  Congrats Donald, really happy for you in your battle to be as liked as your brother.  You deserve all the praise Eskine can throw your way.  Captains may have to reevaluate pairings moving forward.  Swami sees a possible Butcher/Priola match-up in your future Mr. Rehash.

Only loss of the day for the Marauders come at line 3.  Also solidifies Swami’s opinion on best left hander at PAC.  Easy to observe Captain Toad crushing four of his first five picks.  Nice to see Former Line 3 stalwarts on Big Bentley’s Palm Springs team still able to rack up W’s as they did on Saturday vs. Hefty and Mr. Topspin.  Third set score a little anticlimactic, but at least it went three Jeffro.  A Disappointed Hefty pulls a Vic Morlas and storms off the court after claiming to have a work call.   Come on Hefty, we still drink beer even after we lose in this league.

Phayer needing a win begs Todd for a tanned one pairing.  Best thing was that there was not a Priola on the other side of the net.  A little surprised by the default from BSS pairing, but in looking at the score at the time of the default, it’s pretty obvious where this match was headed.  Hope you feel better Ananth.  And I hope Sundial Groeneveld was not the cause.

MM Dials up another win in “I know what you did last Sumner” and Wayne “Django Unchained” Durr pairing.  Looks like only a break separated these two twosomes so evidently a pretty good match up.  Glad I am not a betting man as I would have lost money on this one.  I’m sure BSS captain felt similar confidence in the Scoggin and Hebert pairing.  In the end, a disappointing defeat for the Liberal Ray and the Smooth hitting Drain the Swamp proponent Skipper.

13-3 Masked Marauders increases lead for Toad as we hit midway point.

One line away from another sweep.  Denied by George the Elf Newton and lucky to get a win Fair.  Third set seen some impressive tennis.  Wrap around from “the tooth” answered by Newton’s cutter on the match winner.  Hats off to some good tennis and welcome back to the Bentleague Mr. Ed.  Swami looking forward to seeing you challenging some of these other big guns in round 3 and 4.

Captain Nick and Butcher take care of business vs. Addison and Gordo.  Captain vs. Captain a sign of things to come in round 3.  Swami thinking designated matchups will pay dividends as we proceed to round 3.

Line 3 Matched up a previous pairing won by Smackenroe.  Revenge was sweet for Big Honeysuckle and the Prince of the Parish as they win in straights to even the series at 1 and 1 against Gambler Greg and Pusher Priola.  All four gave it their all as three take it to the pavement during the match.  Kudos to some good tennis but in the end, normalcy was restored, and FOY take it to the elder statesmen in straights.

McGuire gets his first W since coming back from injury in impressive outing paired with the Svelte one.  Hate to see the Cannon and Speiss struggling for W’s but when they are facing FOY have to pull against them.

Best kept secret in Bentleague not named Jawn gets another win for FOY.  Halitosis Hal brings consistency to Burgess high flying game and tandem proves too much for The Other Otillio and Newbie Folkins.    1 and 2 score easy on the eyes for Captain Nick to witness.

FOY take 11 of 16 to solidify 2nd place at the mid-way point.

Totals as we close Round 2:

Masked Marauders 64

SmackEnroe 23

Big Swinging Sticks 52

Fountain of Youth 53

Looking forward to second half of the season!!!!

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
