Mr. Ed and Mr. Anderson step into the limelight on the show court and take down previous week’s Yawn killers one week after their best win of the season.  These youngsters can play as proven by the 2nd and third sets.  Angry Buddy not angry enough and word of fisticuffs on the pickle ball courts unfounded.  Loss has Ego hovering around the .500 and since this is not baseball, no bragging rights for bruised ego.  Reminiscent of Mendoza line for his Springhill batting average.  Everyone knows pitchers can’t hit Marcus.

Big Honeysuckle working his way out of an early season slump just in time for title run.  Odds say it may be too little too late.  Addison’s Jekyll and Hyde Tennis game just what Big H needed as he wins in straights and gets over .500 in winning percentage.

Tricky and the Candlestick Maker seal the top-three line wins for FOY with nice victory over Super Ray and Sergeant Schwartz.   Candlestick maker feeling the ED pressure of 4th round selection early and often finally scores some points for young Nick.  Nice win and in straight sets too.  60 percent winning  % on the rise.

Oh, what could have been.  Swami seeing points left on the board with FOY’s line 4 loss.  Momentum of 2nd set doesn’t translate into third set tie breaker to the dismay of the Chairman.  And to think svelte Mitch was in the MVP conversation just three weeks ago.  Don’t fret Mitch, you are still in the best left hander at PAC conversation.  60% winning percentage by the Chairman tempering “put me in coach” conversations.  But it is still higher than FOY’s pick right before the Chairman.  Time to get a win Total Recall Robby.

Smackenroe seals 2nd line victory with convincing win by Weary Legged Greg and Bogalusa Doug over Beer in Hand Blossman and Slam Bam Cam.  Nice to see Bogalusa in the winner’s circle with someone besides Eskine.  Oh that reminds me….did everyone get their three matches in…?  This dude, and his oh and three record, has been MIA.  Instead of Where’s Waldo…Swami wants to know Where’s Eskine?

FOY 12 Smackenroe 4.  Flicker of hope still there for FOY’s title hopes…

And the plot thickens.  Tim the Knife and the smooth-talking Gaelic win a close three setter against Juan Buise and Jock Strap Peltier.  The Knife showing the Swami he is not a one trick pony.  Format for last round very favorable to BSS top three getting this team in serious title contention.  Have a feeling Juan will step it up in the finale coming off a good semi-final win in the Beau Chen Club championship and a great prep with the Prince on Monday.  Does Jock go back to singles without a Red Baron on the other side of the net?  Sacrificing Fly Boy Payne backfires for Captain Toad as his line 1 disappoints.

From the wtf was he thinking perspective.  Thank you, Addison, for taking Sir Isaac 2nd and leaving the best singles player to Shane.  Did he forget about the fourth round format and the singles-line mandate.  Sorry Rocky.  Nothing good to report here.

And from the most awkward moment at PAC in my 15 years on the Northshore.  Did anyone else feel uncomfortable with the Twinkle Toes Travis and Mr. Rehash Donald hug after the match victory against Brad and Dr. Death?  Not that there is anything wrong with showing affection in public, but I have not felt that queasy since watching the beach scene between Apollo and Balboa in the Rocky III movie.  I’m betting these two stayed up late ReHashing their victory.  Swami witnessed Dr. Death doing his best to overcome partnership with worse guy on the court.  One loss tandem just too tough for The Mouth and the athletic Doctor.

Swami told you all last week that the Goof and Shane pairing was tough.  Definitely a key to the BSS surge of late.  36% lines won percentage by Hefty Lefty making his undefeated first season of Bentleague a distant memory.  Tanned one not happy with the loss but does win the shirt change battle against RaGoof.  Glad not speedo’s were introduced. BSS looking strong for finale but will need someone in the Latino, Hump, Ferr column to step it up and secure some points.

Speaking of Burt and Ferr…I know this loss to Kobrock and Phony Phayer stings and could be crucial to overall point tallies.  Word is that Mr. Topspin had it all working and Kevin had the touch of a neurosurgeon at the net.  Or did one bad line call get Ferr out of sorts.  On paper I would have bet on Charlie Hustle and the Tinder King.  But you have to keep TK engaged and when you lose the first set 6-1 that is hard to do.

One Match left!  Three teams mathematically still in the running!!

FOY 12 behind MM.  BSS 5 behind MM.

Can we get an 11-4 result and a 16-0 results.

If MM takes less than 12 it will be interesting.

7pm matches may be WrestleMania Watch Worthy.  See you hooligans tonight.

The possibilities are endless!  All we know for sure is that Addison’s Smackenroe Team is last.

Totals:

MMs - 102

SmackEnroes - 63

BSS - 97

FOY - 90

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
