Recap for Matches held on 9/18

Shake and Bake               vs           One Bourbon

Buddy / Fair                       Ernie / Todd       7-5,6-0

Is that first set score correct?  Wow!  Toad the wet Sprocket and Ernesto gives Shake and Bake number 1 a scare.  Evidently back to reality for set 2.  Either way…good showing and I’m betting the little bird whispering in Paulie’s ear will remind Captain One Bourbon that if he is going to sandbag line one, really sandbag it… and try and win the other 4.

Donald / Ray                     Kenny / Ed          3-6,6-3,1-0

Damn, did Shake and Bake really blow a 9-4 lead in the third set tie breaker.  That’ll cause a few restless nights for sure.  Rumor has it that the Baron was a little off and the Donald and Ray Ray didn’t capitalize.  Too bad too because we could have used the points.

Kevin / Tony                      JA / Billy               6-3,6-3

A lot of deuce games!  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  Match closer than the score indicates but who cares.  Looks like a blow out on paper and Little Nadal has to do better. Great playing by Big Honeysuckle and free willy.  Ps.  Next time you say “yours” Shyster…let me hit it.

Vic / Doug                          Bentley / Steve  6-3,6-3

The love affair is alive and well for Old knees Harvey and the tanned one.  Same score as line 2 so Shake and Bake never really in the match.  Strong line 4 for One Bourbon just too consistent for Bogalusa Doug and Vicious Vic.

Wayne / Greg Z                Paul / Robby       4-6,6-3,1-0

Captain One bourbon wants this one back.  Almost “genius Saban level shit” switching out line 1 minus the Gaelic one if he would have one lines 2 through 5.  Thank god small g Wayne’s World Durr and the Zipper pulled out the win.  Word is Total Recall Robbie didn’t have his A game, but really not the first time Precious Paul through his partner under the bus after a double’s loss.

One Bourbon 9, Shake and Bake 7

Lumber Jocks     vs           Harper Valley PTA

Bo / Jennings                     Jon / Brent          6-2,6-2

Bo knows 2 and Oh.  Also, like to new hair-do Mr. Ed.  Is that Grechian formula or Just for men?  This team is tough and if they show up every week the Skipper will be one happy Captain.  The tooth won some fans with his tennis manifesto email explaining the line call overrule but not sure he has the game to challenge Being Bo Markovic.  2 and 2 loss nothing to be ashamed of but I am sure Juan wasn’t happy with the humbling.

Travis / Schwartz                             Addis / Nick        4-6,6-4,1-0

Towel Gate best match of the day by far.  Young guns came out fearless with 4-6 first set victory.  Addi easily justifying early fifth round selection in that convincing first set.  Tasmanian Travis showed top shelf consistency in 2nd set and fire finally caught Sergeant Schwartz’ tail as his game steadily improved from suspect first set.  Future opponents may take note though of the Taz’s fettish for sweaty towels.  I know the prince of the parish wouldn’t have been touching all those sweaty towels left behind by the young guns on side out changes.  McEnroe of Bentleague aint no st. paul’s pussy sneakyPete that is for sure.  Very close match with a couple of loose swings from Tricky in the 3rd set all that separated these two competitive squads.

Jeff / Brad                          Ronny / Shane   6-2,6-4

Can’t tell you the last time Ronny and Shane lost a competitive match.  6th and 7th round selections will be a tough line 3 all year in Swami’s eyes.  Only consolation I have with losing is that the Mouth of Mandeville also lost.  2 and Oh would have been hard to handle.  Not exactly sure why Brad kept hitting it to Ronny at the net, but it may have been because Come Back Shane’s forehand rallies were too hot and low to handle.

Kobrock / Ferrer                              Tyler / Hal           6-4,6-2

Delayed until Sunday, this one ended as expected.  Kobrock vying for most improved continues to rack up wins.  Ferr quietly vying for an improved draft report.  Solid round 8 and 9 pairing and definitely a touch out at line 4.

Cayman / Blossman                        Roberto / Sumner            5-7,7-5,1-0

Wish I could have seen this one.  May have challenged the young guns and Taz match based on the score.  Two close sets followed by a tie breaker finish.  Sundial and I know what you did last Sumner gets HVPTA into the title conversation.  Big win to secure two for the match in a closely contested battle with lumber jocks.  Knots up total point lead with a tie for first by these two after week 2 with a lot of tennis still ahead.  Swami knows it was a hard loss that didn’t sit well for the home courters of Beau Chen.  Bet the Rum was flowing after this tough loss!

Seven matches go to tie breakers in week 1.

Four matches go to tie breakers in week 2.  Still good tennis.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
