Harper Valley PTA vs Lumber Jocks
Ronny / Mitch Chris / Brad 6-3,6-3
For some reason…results didn’t come in at press time. Sorry.
Tyler /
Andrew Skip /
Ferrer 6-3,6-7,1-0
Tyler wins! Tyler
Wins! Tyler Wins! Back in the good ole
days I used to be able to say that about the Cubs ☹. Roller coaster match with a nerve racking 2nd
and 3rd sets. Solid play around
and young Tyler really rose to the occasion.
But in the end…Big Burrito took over and willed HVPTA to victory.
Jon / Russell Bo / Travis 4-6,6-1,1-0
Wow! What an exciting
match!!! Bo Knows still front runner for
MVP race but the real story centered on his partner - the Spiritual Gangster! Juan and the hard-hitting Horseman (Anderson)
jumped out early in the tie breaker (4-1) but a couple of errant shots late cost
team Lumber Jocks. Cheered on by Mr. MVP
the Tasmanian Gangster showed he is line 1 material. Mr. Ed who?
Crowd cheering Travis…Travis…Travis
finally brought a smile to the intense Mr. Smith. Only issue Swami saw was the awkward celebratory
hug at the end which reminded me of a similar display last year. Great playing Gangsta!
Addis /
Brent Jeff /
Schwartz 3-6,6-3,1-0
5.0 Addi justifying early round selection again and the
Tooth quietly racking up wins. Although
missing young Tricky, this pairing surprised onlookers while taking down Hefty
Lefty and Sergeant Schwartz. Rumors
about a missed overhead costing the LJ in the tie breaker unfounded but I did
see the lefty hit a ball over the fence in frustration after the match.
Shane /
Robert Cayman /
Schneider 6-1,2-6,1-0
Getting it to three sets a victory in some onlooker’s eyes
for Cannon and the Sly one against the Anglo Hispanic and Come Back Shane. But the way Cannon played Tuesday Swami was
not surprised this one went to three with a chance to win it at the end. Swami knew the Sly one would give Sundial some
trouble as a matter-of-fact team LJ was One overhead shot away from sealing the
deal. Swami says “the more athletic than
he looks” Shane was lucky to escape with a victory against these two anomalies of
tennis.
One Bourbon vs Shake and Bake
Mesa / Paul Tony / Kevin 6-2,6-3
Anyone else want to know why Paul put himself at line 1? Maybe he confused round 3 with round 2. Nice welcome back from the Beach for little
Nadal. Finally, a chance to earn equal
points for equal effort. May need a
title 9 ruling on Comish’s cockamamie scoring system. A little rusty early so thankful for the squirrel’s
impressive net play in the first set. Like
a squirrel gathering nuts after a rainstorm, spunky Kevin was all over the
court putting away volleys for team Shake and Back. Lil Nadal reeled in his rust and helped dice
up the odd One Bourbon pairing in two straight as expected.
Rocky / Billy Gorde / Vic 6-2,5-7,1-0
Talk about a roller coaster match. This one featured it all. What a way to close out the night!!! Travis even stayed although he probably had
to pay 78 dollars to get his kids out of play land. After winning the first set and jumping out 5-0
in the second Team Gordo Geeko and Vicious Vic preceded to lose 7 straight
games. Thought we were going to have to
put each on suicide watch after differing times in the 2nd set and
tie breaker. But somehow, miraculously, against
all odds, after falling behind 9-5 in tie breaker that mounted an unprecedented
challenge and comeback that tennis clubs around the state will be talking
about. Congrats guys. Someone check on Rocky to see if he is ok after
not pulling this one out. Not worried
about Billy, because he probably didn’t know the score.
Kenny O
/ Dave Buddy / Fair 6-4,6-4
Where the eff is Tim?
Son of a bitch. That is all I’m saying. The Baron and Gaelic Gazely take down the Ego
and the Elf 4 and 4. Can Shake and Bake
ever be at full strength.
Ed / JA Ray / Peter 6-2,6-3
Ouch. Swami blames
this one on Tim too. Tim shows and the
Ego moves down a line saving white shoes Ray and Peter from another
humbling. Ed and JA are formidable…so
this is not on Ray and Sneaky Pete. This
one is on EffUTim!
Robby / Ernie Kenny B. / Josh 6-4,6-7,1-0
Hello Josh! Welcome
to Bentleague VII. What a debut…! MVP call of the night may have been the call
to put these two clay court masters on the dirt against ADHD Robbie and the sweet
swinging Ernesto. They just looked more
comfortable and rose to the occasion in the crucial third set. Hope Robbie is not still thinking about that
sitter at the net that hit the back fence to give Shake and Bake the
victory. Congrats Kool hand Kenny and Jerrico
Josh.
Great night of tennis with 6 matches going to tie breakers!
