Weekly Recap

10/28/2021

Scores:

One Bourbon     vs           Lumber Jocks

Paul / Billy                          Skip / Kobrock    2-6,7-5,1-0

Oh no Paulie….another loss in the Captain’s round.  Good win for Skip and Kobrock.  Betting Wild Bill is happy Captain’s round is over!

Robby / Ed                         Travis/Ferr          6-1,6-7,1-0

Is that first set score correct….from what I witnessed 2nd set and tie breaker displayed some real good tennis.  Word on the street is that The Hustler Ferr played great and Travis would not be denied.  Win’s at Tops’l didn’t carry over for Ivan Drago Dautrieve and Total Recall Robby.  This is Bentleague Robby…not tops’l.  When your opponents are not on gummies, it’s a little tougher.

Kenny / Parnell                 Bo / Jennings      7-5,6-3

Welcome to Bentleague Parnell.  Meet Being Bo Markovic.  Looks like a closer than expected score so great first outing.  Just know matches should get easier.  I know Jennings loves racking up wins with Bo Knows.

Burt / Ernie                        Brad / Butcher   7-6,7-6

Sesame Street duo takes down the candlestick maker and the mouth of Mandeville.  Tops’l hangover?  Swami could see Ernie loved the cool weather and the wind.  Swami could also tell where Russell got his muscular legs from.  Don’t call me chicken legs Anderson stepped up his game and Burt looked rejuvenated after his Ecuador rendezvous.  Anyone else observe Burt pulling a Benjamin Buttons on his peers by marrying younger.  May have to look into that!

Todd / Rabon                    Dave / Schneider              6-7,6-4,1-0

Another third set tie breaker!  Swami would have lost money on this one.  Silver Fox and Sly -140 to win said Vegas.  Todd the wet sprocket and Righteous Rabon said I’ll take that bet.  And the Win!

12-4 LJ’s

Shake and Bake               vs           Harper Valley PTA

Doug / Kevin                      Tyler / Andrew   5-7,6-3,1-0

Doug continued to shine in Captain’s Round keeping Shake and Bake’s title hopes alive.  Bogalusa Doug singlehandedly (sorry squirrel and Gonzo) carrying Shake and Bake on his back.  Who needs Tim!  Tokin Tyler performs admirably, but to lose with the fire hot burrito (he played great at TOPS’s) I can only surmise the back hand failed him.

Fair / Eddie                        Addison / Roberto           2-6,6-4,1-0

5.0 Addison to the rescue.  Again.  When told 5.0 Addison showed up mid match at 0-3 in the 2nd, Swami wants to know why team Shake and Bake didn’t hit it to Sundial Groeneveld.  Sundial must have held up his end valiantly to secure the W.  That… or Toe Thumb Fair kept attempting too many 3%’s

Gorde / Josh                      Jon / Russell       6-0,6-1

Easy pickings for pseudo line 1 team of Jon and Russell.  No need to throw rackets in this one Josh.  You were the sacrificial lamb to Honey Bee Buise and the hard hitting Horseman.

Tony / Donald                   Brent / Nick        6-1,6-3

Ouch.  This one pains me to write.  Humbled by John Denver and Tricky Nicky had me off the wagon till 1am last night.  And we were never really in it.  Lucky to get 1 game in the first.  Squeaked out three in the second.  Prince of the Parish knew he was in for a long day when Rehash hit three lights on mishits in warm-ups.  Even the voices in The Donald’s head vacated the court early.  Not recalling too many misses from the HVPTA tandem.  Great playing SabaTuth…see you in singles next round!

Buddy / Ray                       Shane / Sumner 6-0, 6-2

Buddy at line 5?  Glad the cockamamie scoring system is forcing the big guns to play each other.  This could have been my chance to seek some revenge against Come Back Shane for dumping me on the car ride home from Tops’l.  Just glad Ray was able to get a W.  At my dispense.  Must have been bad for I know what you did last Sumner and Shamu to only get two games.

9-7 HVPTA

Lagniappe:

HVPTA in first by 7.  No one doubting Tokin Tyler’s ability to Captain now.  He definitely put together a formidable team and the young guns and Juan are playing better than anticipated.  And his top six are available every week.  Have a feeling Paulie’s One Bourbon team and their point gains will eventually decide the B VII champion.

Commissioner’s Corner:

Gents,  Another great night for Tiebreakers Thursday night in Bentleague.  5 third set tie breakers and 3 more set tiebreakers!  Crazy stuff.

Updated Standings and results attached.

4th round starts Saturday morning with SINGLES in the mix.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
