Weekly Recap
10/30/2021
Pre-Halloween Edition
Scores:
One
Bourbon vs Harper Valley PTA
Paul / Toups Jon / Russell 6-0,6-0
Congrats Juan and Russ on the double bagel of two 3.0 tennis
players.
Kenny
Addison 6-0,6-1
5.0 Addi receives a dose of humble pie from the Baron! Kenny must have been feeling generous in that
2nd set to give you one game.
Billy / Parnell Brent / Nick 6-1,6-0
Love affair between Tricky and the Tuth is thriving with
sound victory against Free Willy and Parnell.
Wonder if Hunt would have gotten more than one game.
Todd / Cameron Tyler / Shane 6-3,6-1
Surprise Surprise!
Tyler inserting himself into yet another HIVPTA line up this time with
Shane. Not a bad way to improve the won
loss record. Nice bounce back win after losing
to Bogalusa Doug on Thursday. Swami’s earlier prediction for One Bourbon becoming
a reality a detriment to title contenders not playing One Bourbon. Paulie’s line up a little scarce of early
round selections on this beautiful day for tennis. OBOBOW may have just phoned it in for 2021
which was a blessing to Tokin Tyler who always seems to get favorable pairings when
he plays One Bourbon.
Burt / Ernie Mitch / Hal 6-3,6-1
Gleam from Thursday from this Sesame Street tandem wears off
against Svelte Mitch and Not so Shallow Hal.
Back-to-back W’s a tall ask of Burt and Ernie Captain Paul against this twosome. Did Rocky quit on you? Inquiring minds want to know and what about
the Mesa/Dalton pairing you had hoped for?
Damn Paulie…can this season be salvaged?
Final
tabulation:

Shake
and Bake vs Lumber Jocks
Buddy / Tim Bo / Jennings 6-4,4-6,1-0
Everyone was talking about the high caliber of tennis played
on Court 6 during this one. Wish I could
have watched more of it. In the end, word
is Bo was his normal excellent self, but it was a couple of match saving shots
by Mr. Ed(ney) that pushed this Lumber Jock pairing to victory. Shake and Bake could have used these five points,
but it was nice seeing a healthy Dr. Tim back on the court even though the
victory lane keeps escaping.
Tony
Travis 3-6,6-3,1-0
This one had the crowd’s attention that’s for sure. In between watching the better tennis on Ct.
6 the crowd was entertained by some contrasting tennis styles not to mention some
heated verbal exchanges. Onlookers witnessed a tightly contested three-setter
with the longer rallies going to the Prince of the Parish. The Prince looked spry late even though he
was playing the tambourine till 130am the night before. In the end, patience, cutters, and the feathery
drop shots from Lil Nadal paid dividends and he sealed the deal at 10-7 in the
third. Swami not even going to waste ink
about the angry fist pump at the end.
Fair /
Peter Jeff
/ Schwartz 6-4,6-1
Shake and Bake’s Sneaky Pete gets a well-deserved W paired
with the Ego against Hefty Lefty and Sergeant Schwartz. Not often you see Jeffro and Schwartz
register a bread stick so good win here for the Shake and Bake twosome.
Donald / Eddie Ferr / Kobrock 7-5,6-4,1-0
Damn. Another tie
breaker loss for Shake and Bake. Scores
indicate a close match-up and some good tennis.
May have been distracted by all the bitching going on next to them. Sorry fellas!
Did Chris really clinch the tie break victory with a mis hit lob
winner? Swami guesses nice guy Donald probably
told him good shot even after a mis hit winner! For those who are not aware…Eddie
B can carry a tune and play a mean guitar.
If you ever need a permanent Tambourine guy…holler!
Jarred / Wayne Seth / Hebert 6-3,6-0
For those not in attendance…there was a Ray Hebert sighting Saturday
at PAC and he got the W. Swami also quietly
noticing Crazy Eyes Monaghan vying for most improved this year as he continues
to rack up wins with favorable draws. No
Riddle to solve here…Jamming Jarred and Wayne’s World Durr outgunned by these
two with one set being the unapologetic bagel.

Lagniappe:
11-point lead for HIVPTA.
One more week of Bentleague V II before club doubles gives us a week off. Anticipating some movement and narrowing of
the standings as others this week get a chance to Play against Paulie’s One Bourbon
squad. Will also be interesting to see
who is left for singles as we close out round 4. Paulie wishing he could clone the Baron and
pencil him in again at singles.
Commissioner’s Corner:
Think before you ski at Copper Mountain. They have a lot of blacks and some of them
are not groomed.
