Bentleague Blog 9/24/22

With President’s Cup and Laver Cup on the tube, I am astonished by what we have in Bentleague. To quote the great one Fed “I always felt like I was a team player at the heart” and "I was just happy to play tennis and spend time with my friends".   That my friend it's what it's all about.

Great second round of the season with reversals from opening round and plenty of 3rd set breakers.

Doucebag vs Cobra Kai

JA/Ferrer            Russell/Chris 6-4, 4-6, 1-0

Chris seemed a little nervous after splitting up his young duo at line 1, but with a victory in hand easing some of the tension.

Jeff/Goof.           Will/Roberto 6-2, 7-5

Sundial and I Will not miss proved way too much for the end. League fees exchanged after the match felt a little dirty, but there's dinner.

Robby/Eddie.    Dave/Ray 6-2, 3-6, 11-9

Never ever ever give up combo of Eddie Vedder and Doucebag himself come back from multiple match points to exalt in the victory.  Way to avoid the sweep.

CJ/Kenny.           Andrew/Skip 7-6, 6-2

Big Burrito still looking for the nudist tennis court teams with the Skipper for a solid victory.

Paul/Blake          Jay/George 5-7, 6-4, 10-6

The last of the Geritol3 was seen running down lobs while Jaybo was crafting up winners.

Butchers "NO" Cracked Rackets Cannon's Wolf-PAC

Noah/James.     Nick/Addison 6-2, 6-4

Great bounce back match for the Cracket duo. Nick and Addie may be limiting their time in the locker room after this one.

Jay/Donald.       Brad/Schneider 6-1, 6-1

No cracket rackets and the oft injured Donald looked like a BC lesson away from a double bagel.

Mitch/Kevin       Cayman/Dave 6-4, 6-1

Who knows?  This one was played under secrecy in the shadows.

Greg/Ralph.       Hal/Todd 6-4, 6-3

Toad the wet sprocket and Halvidore Dali kept the pressure on and Gordo and Ralphie made sure the fence was still out.

Wayne and Sid         Paul/Jared 6-4, 2-6, 10-7

Wayne and El Sid take it. Last match on generates the most excitement. A battle to the end with cheering players (ad Brad) lining the court at the end of this one.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
