Bentleague IX Blog - 9/22/2023 Match Recap

Bentleague IX Blog 9/22/2023 Match Recap Sept 21st, Thursday 6:00 Net Prophets Spin Doctors Line 1 Player 1 Russell Anderson Will Gement 6-0,6-7,1-0 Net Prophets Player 2 Shane McCarthy Michael Schwartz Surprised this one went three sets. Every time I looked Skinny Legs Anderson and Barney Rubble were dominating. Shane really is more athletic than he looks. Interesting switch-aroo by Captain Hal going with Schwartz over Dauterive. Was he playing for the split and happy to get two points out of line 1 and 2. Doesn’t bode well for long term success. He’ll eventually have to win line 1 pairing to challenge for the title. Line 2 Player 1 Jay Butcher Ed Dauterive 1-0 Spin Doctors Player 2 Mitch Tucker Brad Humphreys Wow! Belding gets third win of the season, and we may just have a new top duo as Bradley goes for his drive for five (titles) again. Seems to have found his groove if not his serve with recent two pairings and victories paired with Dr. Death. Early favorit...

Bentleague IX - Opening Night Round One (Guest Blogger - Big Burrito)

Round 1 opened up with lots of tennis action and a whirlwind of paparazzi coverage (…okay no paparazzi just other tennis players waiting to get on the court!) A fog of suspense and criminal mischief has descended on this once pristine league of valor and friendship. Similar to the weight and moral consciousness of the 10 Commandments, were BentLeague rules broken and manipulated for the benefit of another’s victory??? Probably not, just a damn mistake that won’t matter (unlike Roberto’s shot against Brad.) Let it be known, BentLeague is a tennis governing body of the Commish and many other mysterious governing branches of checks and balances. All mistakes , under-breath comments and obvious pink hat worthy actions are documented and forever used against you (and I mean your whole life, like 90 years and when you die, and yes, a pink hat can go in the coffin!) No matter if the world is going to hell in a handbasket, BentLeague will remain a solid foundation to escape from the “re...

Bentleague IX: Parabellum - Draft Analysis

bentleague IX Draft analysis By the STBernard Swam Let the games begin! —— NetProphets Captain George Russell Anderson - Consensus Number 1 with the weight of a draft day trade on his shoulders. Can justify best team money can buy if he performs and lives up to his billing. Hopefully off season yoga training pays off. Shane McCarthy - everyone knows he is more athletic than he looks. Won’t be surprising anyone any more. This time will have to rise up as second round selection. Hope the serve is second round worthy for George’s sake. Jay Butcher - Candlestick battling injuries according to the Swami so hard to validate early third round selection. Swami says if plan B is the two handed back hand Captain George will regret this one. Pulling for you JB. Hate to see injuries. Foresee some broken rackets in his future if Plan b materializes. Addison Melancon - 5.0 Addi or 3.5 Addi? Captain hoping for the Addi of two years ago. The Cajun Coonass can hang athletically bu...
