Bentleague IX Recap - Round 3 Match 1 Oct 14th, Saturday

Bentleague IX Recap Round 3 Match 1 Oct 14th, Saturday 8:00 Spin Doctors Lobbyist This one is painful to write about. Spin Doctors brought out the hammer and begin distancing themselves from the pack. Line 1 Spin Doctors Lobbyist Player 1 Hal Nei Jay Blossman Player 2 David Parnell Todd Delcambre 6-4,6-4 Spin Doctors The Captains Round! Distinct advantage Spin Doctors. Consistency and keeping errors to a minimum a pretty good formula for round 3 and no one does it better than Hal. Hell, Hairy Hal used to be a 4.5. Add the fact that these forced Line 1’s is worth two points and it could spell doom the title chasers. Two close sets but in the end, it was the Spin Doctors who won all the crucial points observed. Hairy and Pouty already have several wins notched so we may be seeing this twosome the next two matches. Swami knows the Lobbyist twosome can play better so there is a glimmer of hope for the rest of the round. Dang, just a few Parnell overheads away from getting to that third set! Line 2 Spin Doctors Lobbyist Player 1 Michael Schwartz Jeff Thompson Player 2 Burt Dalton Mike Lane 6-2,7-6 Spin Doctors Seargeant Schwartz rising to the occasion in the mandated pairing section of round 2. Two point Schwartzy vying for MVP consideration. Playing with high value pick El Chupacabra of Ecuador made for a tough pairing against their Lobbyist counterparts. Anytime you throw JT out there, Swami likes his chances, but lately we’ve been getting more Jeffro instead of JT. Needed this one to keep it close. Score was tight in the 2nd but folded like a cheap suit in that tie breaker. Mike Stay in your Lane played well, especially in the 2nd set, but if you are going to try and hit cut backhands against the Sarge, my money is on Michael. 6-2,7-6 Line 3 Spin Doctors Lobbyist Player 1 Tyler Harper Tony Priola Player 2 Vaughn Pizz Mark Schneider 6-0,6-2 Lobbyist Captain Hal with the old switch-a-roo. Or was it Principal Belding’s idea? Lobbyist played it straight up and Spin Doctor’s flipped the script on line 3 and 4. I would have liked to see Mesa and Hump across the net. Samaraui Schneider and the Prince of the Parish make quick work of Tokin Tyler and Pizz even though Vaughn didn’t see many balls. Forest Gump references to Tyler’s hair was funny as was his net game. Thinking Toupsie and Chris had a chance against this pairing so good call captain Hal. Line 4 Spin Doctors Lobbyist Player 1 Brad Humphreys Chris Kobrock Player 2 Mike Mesa Steve Toups 6-3,6-4 Lobbyist More competitive than the Swami thought by the 3 and 4 scores. The one point I observed, Swami saw Rockin Toupsie jump in front of Chris’ forehand with one of those patented leaping back hand volley’s so writing was on the wall with the outcome never in doubt. Admire the competitiveness, just not the back hand volley. Pretty confident of Hal willing to split lines 3 and 4. May just get him to the mountain top. Line 5 Spin Doctors Lobbyist Player 1 Ray Brouillette Noah Marquez Player 2 Joey Dunbar TBD Thought team who cannot field an entire team has to turn in the complete line up? Can we get a clarification here? Also noticed we had some Bentleagues taking a pickleball clinic while matches were going on. How about some priorities people! You can play picketball when Bentleague is over. Total Points 6 1 9:30 Smash City Net Prophets Line 1 Smash City Net Prophets Player 1 Blake Powers Addison Melancon Player 2 Bentley Harvey Ernie Anderson 6-2,1-6,1-0 Net Prophets Feature match? Well…they put line 3 on court 2 so this was the best match on prime real-estate. Blake and Old Knees and Young Addi and the Elder Anderson. We might have had to refrain Ernie from killing Addison if they would haven’t pulled it out. Jumping around the net like a crazy person kept the Smash City guessing along with his partner. Good tennis witnessed by all with Net Prophets taking it in a close third. Line 2 Smash City Net Prophets Player 1 Dave McGuire George Strain Player 2 Sid Hauptmann Ty Miller 4-6,7-9,1-0 Net Prophets Two captains saving themselves just for this round and another close one. Geritol George making his debut comes out on top paired with Mr. Highlife himself. Just enough versatility in his game to keep Senor’ Sid and the Mayor of Mandeville at bay and everyone know ambidextrous George can dial it up when he needs it most. Good win for Net Prophets. Line 3 Smash City Net Prophets Player 1 Nick Thompson Shane McCarthy Player 2 Ronny Regouffre Mitch Tucker 3-6,6-1,1-0 Net Prophets Another Third set tie breaker lost by Smash City. Go Figure! Wish Tricky would have played that bad in the combo finale’. Got a little too excited in the tie breaker Tricky and rushed a few. Not exactly sure but initiating the action against Come Back Shane recipe for disaster. Thinking Ronny couldn’t wait to light one up after witnessing this one slip away. Enjoyed seeing the power line at line 3 as it was supposed to be. Effing Brad! Line 4 Smash City Net Prophets Player 1 Kevin Phayer Bill Spiess Player 2 Andrew McQuaid Don Sharman 6-3,6-3 Smash City Line 5 Rocky and Bullwinkle to the Smash City rescue. They Win 3 and 3 against Free Willy Spiess and Don’t Squeeze the Sharman. Rocky the Squirrel perfect partner for the bull in the China shop. Swami knows someone needs to reel in the Big Burrito from poaching when it’s not needed. Smash City Net Prophets Player 1 Jeff St. Romain Eric Daigle Player 2 Kenny Boudreaux Danny Butler 6-1,4-6,1-0 Net Prophets Wait, another tie breaker loss by Smash City. How many is that this year captain? You may need an off-site strategy session with your team before it’s too late. Good win for Eric the Red and Danny Boy Butler. Can’t remember…is this the skinny Butler Brother or the other one? Net Prophets take 4 of 5, get bonus point, and send Jeff and Kenny back to the drawing board. Swami seen Jeff’s game and he should be winning more matches. Just Swami’s opinion but now it’s out there for all to witness. Also, captain may want to put Boudreaux on a curfew before Saturday morning matches. He looked a little rough out there. This one surprised me. And I’m still confused about which hand is Kenny’s dominate hand and which one he servers with. Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
