Bentleague IX Recap – Nov 16 and Nov 18

Bentleague IX Recap – Nov 16 and Nov 18 Nov 16th, Thursday 6:00 Smash City Lobbyist Line 1 Smash City Lobbyist Player 1 Nick Thompson Noah Marquez Player 2 Blake Powers Jeff Thompson 6-2,3-6,1-0 Lobbyist Third set tie breaker against Noah and JT9 like a win for Tricky and Squeaky. Line 2 Smash City Lobbyist Player1 Mike Roberts Garret Phillippi Lobbyist win No score available. Garret loves singles. Has Lil Nadal in his future with the Priola’s reputation at stake. Did we really go through two rounds of singles without a Fair, Nick, and Noah appearance. Singles Line 3 Smash City Lobbyist Player 1 Mark Fair Robby Economides Player 2 Cayman Sinclair Greg Eckholdt 6-1,6-4 Smash City Oh…here is a fair sighting. Taco Tuesday crew take it in straights. Brad’s has a shit eaten grin on his face knowing Robby got drafted higher than he did. Will have to compare win loss records after the season. Line 4 Smash City Lobbyist Player 1 Kevin Phayer Chris Kobrock Player 2 Sid Hauptmann Steve Toups 4-6,6-3,1-0 Lobbyist Kobrock is the Toups whisperer. Good win against a tough opponent. Line 5 Smash City Lobbyist Player 1 Ronny Regouffre David Oubre Player 2 Chris Rabon Peter Jilkov 7-6,6-3 Smash City Nice pairing at line 5 for Smash City. Line 6 Smash City Lobbyist Player 1 Andrew McQuaid Shawn Potter Player 2 Kenny Boudreaux Steven Burgess 7-5,6-4 Lobbyist Potter Burgess duo too tough for the big burrito and Kenny B. Andrew on a recent slide of late. Total Points 2 7 Lobbyist Lobbyist gain a few. 7:30 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Line 1 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player 1 Michael Schwartz Jay Butcher Player 2 David Parnell Mitch Tucker 6-3,4-6,1-0 Spin Doctors Geez. Butcher and Tucker should not lose to Parnell and Schwartz. Heard they let a 7-2 in the third slip away. Schwartz cements early MVP favorite. Line 2 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player1 Ed Dauterive Chris Coinon 6-0,6-0 Spin Doctors Coincon at singles? I see a bunch of players drafted ahead of him that could have played. How much time is Geritol George devoting to line up preparation? Singles Line 3 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player 1 Brad Humphreys Bill Spiess Player 2 Greg Gordon Eric Daigle 4-6,6-4,1-0 Spin Doctors Another win for Brad Robby. Best seventh round selection in the history of Bentleague. Line 4 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player 1 Mike Mesa Paul Eskine Player 2 Burt Dalton Don Sharman 6-4,6-3 Spin Doctors Solid Spin Doctor duo treating his captain well. Middle of the draft saving Hal’s earlier picks…but no bragging rights for beating Eskine. He hasn’t won a Bentleague match in three years. Line 5 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player 1 Steve Jacobs Dave Mount Player 2 Ryan Doubt Ernie Anderson Jacobs and Doubt take this one. Make-up match played on 11/27. The tanned one’s availability pleasant surprise for the hairy captain. Line 6 Spin Doctors Net Prophets Player 1 Will Gement David Butler Player 2 Devin Smith Danny Butler There’s Hal’s 2nd round draft pick. Glad to have you back on the courts Will the Thrill. Now let’s get off of line 6. Total Points 7 0 I knew Net Prophets were going to decide the winner of Bentleague. I just didn’t realize it would be for throwing out bagels. -- rnd 5 Nov 18th, Saturday 8:00 Net Prophets Lobbyist Line 1 Net Prophets Lobbyist Player 1 Russell Anderson Tony Priola Player 2 Shane McCarthy Robby Economides 6-0,6-3 Net Prophets Ouch. Net Prophets bring out their best line up of the year and Lobbyist are short-handed. Still hurt to throw out a Bagel. Line 2 Net Prophets Lobbyist Player 1 Addison Melancon Chris Kobrock Player 2 Jay Butcher Jay Blossman 6-4,6-3 Net Prophets Addi and Jay a little too much for Lobbyist Captain and Killer K. You never know what Addi will show up but I’d prefer him on a Saturday morning if I had a choice. Looks like 5.0 Addi showed up this day. Line 3 Net Prophets Lobbyist Player 1 Eddie Burdette Robert Groeneveld Player 2 Bill Spiess Greg Eckholdt 6-1,7-5 Net Prophets Tough one for Lobbyist. Sundial struggling for W’s! Should have stayed away from Burdett’s forehand. Heard Free Willy was a monster at the net. Line 4 Net Prophets Lobbyist Player 1 Don Sharman Steven Burgess Player 2 Ernie Anderson Todd Delcambre 6-4,6-2 Lobbyist Needed this one Steve and Todd! Burgess ceiling has no limits. Distinct age differences in these two pairings leaned Lobbyist way. Line 5 Net Prophets Lobbyist Player 1 Paul Eskine Peter Jilkov Player 2 David Butler David Oubre Played on 11/28. Peter and Doc too tough for the other David. Butler didn’t do it with Cowboy Paulie on this chilly Tuesday night. Total Points 6 2 -- 930 Smash City Spin Doctors Line 1 Smash City Spin Doctors Player 1 Nick Thompson Greg Gordon Player 2 Mark Fair Brad Humphreys 6-3,4-6,6-2 Smash City Surprised it went three. And finally, a tie breaker win for Smash City. Hump would rather play with Ed Gordo. Line 2 Smash City Spin Doctors Player 1 Blake Powers Michael Schwartz Player 2 Bentley Harvey David Parnell 6-7,7-5,6-4 Spin Doctors Old knees at line 2 with a full third set. No wonder Parnell’s record is so good. I blame this defeat on the captain. All close sets but if I were a betting man…I would have bet on the MVP favorite. Line 3 Smash City Spin Doctors Player 1 Andrew McQuaid Steve Jacobs Player 2 Kevin Phayer Thomas Domingues 7-6,6-3 Spin Doctors Steve and Thomas take down the squirrel and the big burrito. Really Andrew? Newly minted 4.5 Kevin should use this score in his appeal. Line 4 Smash City Spin Doctors Player 1 Jeff St. Romain Mike Mesa Player 2 Chris Rabon Ryan Doubt 6-4,6-4 Smash City Round Mound of Rabon chalks up another win. Mesa Doubt pairing should have produced better results. Line 5 Smash City Spin Doctors Player 1 Paul Guidotti Joey Dunbar Player 2 Keith Krebs Burt Dalton 4-6,6-4,6-3 Spin Doctors Closer that anyone expected. Really needed Smash City to earn upset. In the end, lefty and the Ecuador frequent traveler prevail as they should have. Paulie G Krebs combo can hold their heads up high. Total Points 3 5 Spin Doctors will a four-point lead with two matches to play. Net Prophets player availability and George paying attention might play a factor in who take home the trophy. Good thing is last match will be head-to-head with Spin Doctor’s playing Lobbyist. Just need it close to make that match TV worthy. Looks like spoiler roll only for Smash City. Lets see how the last two matches play out. Totals: Spin Doctors Lobbyist Smash City Net Prophets Round 1 Total 12 13 12 11 Round 2 Total 19 17 12 6 Round 3 Total 15 10 12 11 Round 4 Total 16 21 9 8 Round 5 Total 5 2 3 6 Total Points 67 63 48 42

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap   Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft.   First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night.   As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom.   Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections.   This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson.   Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year?   I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II.   No surprise here with Russ going first overall.   Clear #1 by everyon...

Bentleague Blog/Vlog 10/22/2025 - Round 2 Match 2 and 3

I'll BE BACK! Going with the VLOG to recap match 2 and 3 of Round 2. https://youtu.be/rLpJlQK81UM? feature=shared --- Here are a couple of parting shots as I go to the IR: Sensei Kobrock will live in Bentleague infamy for having a person who was in Germany in the line up. Grant is still winless!  How is this even possible with those fundamentals. Rudy is working hard to fulfill third round expectations...finally gets in the Win column and it only took five matches! Old Knees Harvey should not complain about being at line 6.  Congrats on the W with Millsie. Nick is the only captain this year to not have a previous title under his belt and its showing.   Don't bet on the Ego on Saturday mornings! The youngin's are asserting themselve,s but a few of the old guard still know how to win.  Especially in TSTB's. Round 3 will reveal who had the best draft middle on down.  Time to get some more players involved. Being on the IR during Bentleague is more painf...
