Bentleague IX
Round 4 Match 2
Nov 4th, Saturday Recap
Last match of Round 4 Thursday. Congrats to Samauria Schneider and Senor’ Sid for capturing 7.5 Combo. Did Seth and Shane even make it to the final? Inquiring minds want to know…
8:00 Net Prophets Lobbyist
Line 1
Player 1 Russell Anderson Noah Marquez
Player 2 Shane McCarthy Jeff Thompson
Wow. Noah and JT9 win 2 and 3. Good sign heading into final round.
6-2,6-3 Lobbyist
Line 2
Player 1 Ty Miller Chris Kobrock
6-2,6-1 Lobbyist
Sacrifice by NP? Ty Highlife can rally but not sure he has fire power to hang with Killer K. Based on 2 and 1 score, Swami knows what he’s talking about.
Singles
Line 3
Player 1 Addison Melancon Mark Schneider
Player 2 Jay Butcher Robby Economides
6-2,7-5 Net Prophets
Word on the street is someone questioned game count during set number two. Lobbyist had a banker and a guy who can tell you the square root of a 23 digit number without a calculator. Who you think got it wrong? Hopefully rumor about someone quitting mid set tied 5-5 after the confrontation is not correct!
Line 4
Player 1 Eddie Burdette Robert Groeneveld
Player 2 Bill Spiess Mike Otillio
7-5,6-3 Net Prophets
Tough ask of Lobbyist duo. Free Willy and Eddie and the Cruisers too consistent.
Line 5
Player 1 George Strain Peter Jilkov
Player 2 CJ Mehle Steve Toups
6-2,6-0 Lobbyist
Boom. Peter Jil vying for MVP consideration after long weekend of tennis at Tops’l. Toups can compete and sweat with the best of them. CJ fighting for wins having a tough go in B IX. Same for Geritol George!
Line 6
Player 1 Eric Daigle Garret Phillippi
Player 2 Danny Butler Shawn Potter
2-6,6-3,1-0 Net Prophets
Total Points 4 5
Tie Breaker heart breaker. P squared (Potter and Phillippi) lose a close one. Hope this one doesn’t come back to haunt Lobbyist. Good win for Daigle (underrated) and Butler.
9:30 Smash City Spin Doctors
Line 1
Player 1 Nick Thompson Ed Dauterive
Player 2 Mark Fair Brad Humphreys
Say what? Dr. Death and The Principal take down the Ego and Tricky. Had to Read that one again.
That duo just got humbled by Lil Nadal and KK. Just goes to show you on any given day…and Brad can beat any not named Tigah!
3-6,6-4,1-0 Spin Doctors
Line 2
Player1 Blake Powers Vaughn Pizz
6-2,6-2 Smash City
Spin Doctors through Vaughn at singles conceding 2 points. Only one match left for Ed to answer the bell. Squeaky Blake quietly racking up points.
Singles
Line 3
Player 1 Andrew McQuaid Michael Schwartz
Player 2 Jeff St. Romain Hal Nei
6-3,6-4 Spin Doctors
Hairy Hal dialing it in with Seargeant (MVP) Schwartz. No more Halitosis Hal after this win. Foresee these two pairing in some matches come round 5. Burrito McQuaid falters in first match since MVP award at Tops’l.
Line 4
Player 1 Bentley Harvey Greg Gordon
Player 2 Keith Krebs Joey Dunbar
6-1,6-3 Spin Doctors
Old knees struggling for W’s. Too much fire power from Geeko Gordon and Big Calves Dunbar.
Line 5
Player 1 Kevin Phayer Steve Jacobs
Player 2 Paul Guidotti Tyler Harper
4-6,6-3,1-0 Spin Doctors
Third set tie breaker! Tokin Tyler (aka Run Forest) gets first win of B IX. Close one on paper. Tanned one a little better than the squirrel?
Line 6
Player 1 Seth Monaghan Mike Mesa
Player 2 Chris Rabon Burt Dalton
6-1,2-6,1-0 Spin Doctors
Mesa Dalton pairing better than Bonnie and Clyde, Butch and Sundance, Captain and Tenile?
Valiant effort by the Round Mound of Rabon and the Alpha Ginger. A lot closer than Swami would have predicted.
Total Points 2 7
Race for the trophy tightens. Will be interesting in final round.
One more match before we get there though. See everyone Thursday.

Bentleague X: The Sequel Draft Recap Not for the faint of heart…back by popular demand…here is the St. Bernard Swami’s recap of the Bentleague X Draft. First things first, this is an unbiased take on the captain’s picks and how the teams fared out on draft night. As the ombudsman of Bentleague you can count on an unbiased evaluation of each team from top to bottom. Congrats to the Commish for finally getting rid of the cockamamie scoring system that favored top picks more than late round selections. This is an inclusive league for all PAC members, and a win by Rockin Toupsie or Josh (Mr. Irrelevant) should be just as much as a win by Russ “Don’t call me Russell” Anderson. Wait…did Josh win any Bentleague matches last year? I digress…on to the team draft grades. Drafting in the number one position was Hairy Hal Neitzschman aka. Spin Doctors II. No surprise here with Russ going first overall. Clear #1 by everyon...
